  • Patent number: 4806073
Abstract: In a side-channel compressor having a rotor rotatably supported in a housing, the improvement wherein at least one dust stripper protrudes into a gap between the housing and a rotor to prevent the accumulation of dust in the gap. Preferably, the dust stripper protrudes into a radial gap between a lateral extension of a blade ring portion of the rotor and a lateral extension of the housing. Additionally, the dust stripper is preferably circumferentially located in the inlet half of the compressor so that the pressure gradient in the compressor assists in the removal of dust stripped by the dust stripper. Additionally, or in the alternative, an axially extending dust stripper may be provided in an axial gap between the housing and a hub portion of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4657487
Abstract: A device for generating a vacuum comprises a liquid-ring vacuum pump driven by an electric motor and operating with a working fluid. A mixture of compressed air and working fluid from the pump flows to a preseparator which separates a major portion of the working fluid from the gaseous mixture. The separated working fluid is fed from a reservoir in the preseparator via a liquid cooling coil back to the liquid-ring vacuum pump, while the gas still loaded with a residue of the working fluid is fed to a fine separator by means of a gas cooler, working fluid separated in the fine separator being returned to the pump via a return line. The preseparator and the fine separator are physically spaced from one another. The gas cooler and the liquid cooling coil are also physically spaced from one another and are located in the path of the cooling air stream for the electric motor.

  • Patent number: 4516912
Abstract: A compressor arrangement for a heat pump installation in which an electric motor is provided as the drive means for the compressor is disclosed. In order to make possible operation of the compressor without unpermissibly large surge currents in the electric network supplying power to the electric motor, the compressor is driven by a permanent magnet-excited d-c motor which is provided with an electronic commutating device. The starting current drawn by the d-c motor can be controlled by means of a d-c voltage control element coupled to the electric network by a rectifier so as to prevent unpermissibly large starting surge currents.

  • Patent number: 4492530
Abstract: Improvements in a compressor unit of the type which includes a radial piston compressor and a drive motor disposed in a housing about a stationary shaft are disclosed. The shaft is suspended from the housing by an elastic coupling to substantially suppress the transmission of vibrations and sound from the compressor unit to the housing. In a disclosed embodiment, the shaft is suspended by a rod-shaped elastic support member fastened to the housing and protruding into a cavity defined by a hollow portion of the shaft where the elastic member is connected to the shaft. According to one aspect of the invention, transmission of vibration and sound can be attenuated without the need to provide additional space by providing the unit's pressure outlet duct as the elastic support member.

  • Patent number: 4465436
Abstract: Improvements are disclosed in a radial piston compressor having pistons reciprocally disposed in the piston spaces of a cylinder block rotatably supported on a stationary shaft. The radial motion of the pistons is controlled by a rotatable guide which is arranged with its axis of rotation eccentrically to the axis of rotation of the cylinder block. The portion of the stationary shaft covered by the cylinder block includes a suction slot and a pressure slot extending along a portion of the circumference of the stationary shaft. Oil for sealing the cylinder block and the stationary shaft is introduced into the gap between the cylinder block and the stationary shaft. Due to the rotation of the cylinder block, the piston spaces are communicated alternatingly with the suction slot and the pressure slot through an opening provided in the bottom of the piston spaces.

  • Patent number: 4451211
Abstract: A coupling arrangement for coupling a radial piston compressor to an external rotor drive motor is disclosed. The rotor of the drive motor is coupled to a rotatable cylinder block by arranging a plurality of leaf springs between the cylinder block and arms projecting from the rotor. The cylinder block rotatably mounted on the motor stator shaft supports the rotor at the compressor end of the drive motor. The leaf springs prevent canting of the cylinder blocks with respect to the rotor of the drive motor due to manufacturing and alignment errors.

  • Patent number: 4443158
Abstract: A liquid ring pump having a control disk interposed between the impeller housing and a cover provided with connecting stubs is disclosed. A seal is interposed between the cover and the control disk and pressed against the control disk by a supporting edge of the cover. The seal further has a central web separating the pressure and the suction spaces formed in the cover. The interior of the impeller housing is sealed from the exterior thereof at the edge resting against the control disk. Sealing at two spaced locations, i.e. at the edge of the housing and between the cover and the control disk, is accomplished with a one-piece seal in accordance with the invention by providing a cup-shaped seal which has at the free end of its circumferential wall a radially outward-extending bead which is pressed against the rim of the impeller housing by an edge of the cover which axially extends beyond the circumferential wall.

  • Patent number: 4436490
Abstract: A compressor and its external-rotor drive motor are arranged on a common stationary shaft in a unitary housing. On the end of the stationary shaft which is away from the compressor, a friction pump is mounted for pumping lubricant from a supply in the unit housing into an axial canal drilled in the stationary shaft. The impeller of the friction pump consists of a hollow cylinder which is coupled to the external rotor. The hollow cylinder is received in a pump housing which has an annular space between an inner and an outer housing part into which the hollow cylinder extends, forming an inner and an outer gap. The two gaps are in communication with each other and each contains at least one constriction which forces oil carried by rotation of the hollow cylinder past openings in the inner housing into the axial canal.

  • Patent number: 4247260
Abstract: A pressure regulated water supply system having an accumulator arranged between an input line supplied by a pump and an output line leading to the consumers. A diaphragm between the input line and the accumulator controls a pressure switch which turns the feed pump on and off. The diaphragm is provided with an opening of a size, relative to the delivery flow of water to the pump, such that a pressure difference occurs across it. A check valve is arranged on the side of the diaphragm facing the accumulator above the passage opening and the diaphragm itself forms the seat for the check valve. The mouth of a duct located above the surface of the diaphragm connects to the pressure switch. The distance between the mouth and the surface of the diaphragm is chosen so that, if the diaphragm is deflected due to a pressure difference, it rests against the mouth and closes it.

  • Patent number: 4006998
Abstract: An impeller for a ring compressor is disclosed. More particularly, the impeller is designed so that the ratio of the area of the individual blades of the impeller to the cross section area of the side channel of the compressor is equal to or smaller than 0.72 and so that the ratio of the pitch or spacing between adjacent blades of the impeller to the width dimension of the side channel cross section is likewise equal to or smaller than 0.72. Design of the impeller in this manner decreases the gas volume dragged across the interrupter or break in the side channel without appreciably decreasing the discharge head.

  • Patent number: 3942906
Abstract: A side-channel ring compressor including compressor medium inlet and outlet openings communicative with the side-channel thereof, and a channel break disposed between the inlet and outlet openings. The channel break has at least one first outlet opening communicative therewith, and the side channel has a second inlet opening, disposed between the compressor medium inlet and outlet openings, which is communicative with the side channel at a point at which the pressure of the compressor medium is greater than the medium pressure at the side-channel inlet opening and less than the medium pressure at the side-channel outlet opening.
