  • Patent number: 9670864
Abstract: A device and a method for actuating an injector in a fuel-injection system of an internal combustion engine are described. Using a first calibration method and based on a control parameter, an injector parameter which characterizes the injection process is determined. Starting from this injector parameter, a first feature is determined for calibrating the injector. A second calibration method determines a second feature for calibrating the injector, based on an engine parameter. The first calibration method is monitored on the basis of the second feature.

  • Patent number: 9043120
Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine in which a speed-based feature of the internal combustion engine, which is correlated with an indicated mean effective pressure of the fuel, is determined during the warm-up of the internal combustion engine and an ideal fuel quantity, which is to be injected into at least one combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine during the warm-up, is ascertained therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20140236452
Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine is described. A base controlled variable for influencing an actual value of an operating variable of the internal combustion engine is ascertained. The actual value of the operating variable is compared to a setpoint value of the operating variable. A correcting variable is ascertained as a function of the comparison. A controlled variable is ascertained as a function of the base controlled variable and as a function of the correcting variable. An actual value of a state variable of the internal combustion engine is ascertained. A start point in time of a time interval of a critical state change of the internal combustion engine is ascertained as a function of the ascertained actual value of the state variable. The controlled variable is essentially ascertained from an intermediate controlled variable and a correcting variable following the start point in time.

  • Patent number: 8584515
Abstract: In a method for operating an injection valve, in particular a fuel injector of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, one component of the injection valve, particularly a valve needle, is disposed in a manner allowing movement relative to other components of the injection valve, and preferably is able to be driven at least partially by an actuator. A structure-borne-noise signal is detected by a structure-borne-noise sensor, and the structure-borne-noise signal is evaluated in order to infer an operating state of the movably disposed component.

  • Patent number: 8434456
Abstract: A method for setting a combustion in a combustion engine, particularly in a diesel engine, having the following steps of generating a manipulated variable, particularly a point of injection (PI), as a function of a combustion feature (MFB50%), the combustion feature (MFB50%) representing a condition in cylinder, especially a pressure characteristic in the cylinder, and setting the combustion in cylinders of the combustion engine with the aid of the manipulated variable, the manipulated variable further being generated as a function of a correction value (CV), which is determined as a function of combustion information (dQmax) that provides an indication about the quality of the combustion.
