  • Patent number: 8990015
Abstract: In a method for course prediction in driver assistance systems for motor vehicles, a dynamic course hypothesis is created on the basis of vehicle-dynamics data of the vehicle, which method includes the following steps: creating an infrastructure course hypothesis on the basis of data from at least one information source that describe the traffic infrastructure; calculating, on the basis of features of the information source, a weighting factor that describes the reliability of the infrastructure course hypothesis; and fusing the infrastructure course hypothesis with the dynamic course hypothesis, with weighting in accordance with the calculated weighting factor, to produce a definitive course hypothesis.

    Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbH
    Inventor: Silvia Citelli
  • Patent number: 7715275
Abstract: A start assist system for motor vehicles, including a long-range locating system for determining the location of vehicles traveling ahead and a starting regulator for initiating and controlling a starting operation, wherein the locating system is combined with a near-range locating system for determining the location of objects directly ahead of the host vehicle and a decision unit is designed to suppress the starting operation in response to a signal from the near-range locating system.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 20, 2005
Date of Patent: May 11, 2010
    Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbH

  • Patent number: 6873286
Abstract: The system comprises: detector devices (1) operable to provide electrical signals indicative of the relative distance and relative speed of the motor vehicle (V) with respect to a fixed or moving obstacle (O) ahead, and a processing and control unit (ECU) connected to such detector devices (1) as well as to brake actuators (2-4) and arranged to cause activation of the brake actuators (2-4) to effect automatic emergency braking of the motor vehicle (V) when the relative distance between the motor vehicle (V) and an obstacle (O) ahead lies between a first predetermined limit value (dF) equal to the minimum value at which it is still possible to avoid collision by braking and a preselected intermediate value (dE) comprised between said first limit value (dF) and a second limit value (dEcrit) which is less than the said first limit value (df) and is equal to the minimum relative distance value at which it is still possible to follow a path which avoids the obstacle (O), or when the relative distance (dR) becomes
