Publication number: 20180269921Abstract: Sequence trigger circuitry may be configured to repeat command sequences to switch between communication modes of a RFFE. The circuitry may include a first logic circuitry to, in response to a trigger signal, generate a first output signal or a second output signal to activate a first command sequence or a second command sequence, respectively. The circuitry may also include a second logic circuitry to activate a third command sequence based on a comparison of a clock output signal with a first timer value and upon generating the first output signal. The first command sequence and the third command sequence may switch the RFFE into a receive mode of the plurality of modes. The circuitry may include a third logic circuitry to activate a fourth command sequence based on a comparison of the clock output signal with a second timer value and upon generating the second output signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 20, 2017Publication date: September 20, 2018Inventors: Peter Pawliuk, Simon A. Patent number: 9425742Abstract: A tunable matching network is configured to couple at least one filter with a power amplifier that is configured to operate in an envelope tracking (ET) mode of operation over a transmit band. A control component is configured to detect a present set of operating conditions of the power amplifier when the power amplifier operates in the ET mode of operation. The present set of operating conditions comprises a present frequency of operation, and the control component is further configured to transmit a control signal to the tunable matching network in response to the detected present set of operating conditions. The tunable matching network is further configured to adjust an impedance of the tunable matching network in response to the transmitted control signal such that one or more ET characteristics are optimized based at least in part on the present set of operating conditions.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2014Date of Patent: August 23, 2016Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Andreas Langer, Simon Hughes

Patent number: 8363359Abstract: An apparatus includes an inner component, an outer component; and a tolerance ring located between the inner and outer components to provide an interference fit there between. The tolerance ring includes a strip of material having a plurality of radially extending projections. The strip of material is curved into a ring having a gap. The radially extending projections are compressible between the inner and outer components, and the stiffness of the radially extending projections varies around the circumference of the tolerance ring.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2009Date of Patent: January 29, 2013Assignee: Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Rencol LimitedInventors: Andrew R. Slayne, Simon A. Hughes

Publication number: 20090036068Abstract: A wireless system having high spectral purity output signals. The wireless system has a transmitter circuit for transmitting an output signal and a power amplifier for amplifying the output signal for wireless transmission via an antenna. Positioned in-line with the output signal between the transmitter circuit and the power amplifier is a harmonic trap configured for inhibiting harmonics within a predetermined frequency range generated by the power amplifier from leaking into the transmitter circuit. The harmonic trap can be implemented as a discrete device, or integrated within the transmitter circuit or integrated within the power amplifier. By inhibiting the harmonics from leaking into the transmitter circuit, degraded performance of the transmitter circuit is prevented.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 2, 2007Publication date: February 5, 2009Applicant: SIRIFIC WIRELESS CORPORATIONInventors: Simon HUGHES, Jason JANTZI, Xavier ULDRY

Patent number: 6134427Abstract: A wireless communication device, such as a dual-mode cellular phone, receives radio frequency (RF) signals in either of two communication bands. Each received RF signal is passed to two bandpass filters, one for each communication band, the outputs of which are connected to a single amplifier. The amplifier processes the received signal regardless of the communication band in which the signal was received. The amplifier can include two sets of similar circuitry, e.g., matching circuits, one for each communication band, which are selected alternatively to process received signals in the corresponding communication band.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1998Date of Patent: October 17, 2000Assignee: Conexant Systems, Inc.Inventor: Simon A.
