Abstract: The present invention relates to modified histone proteins for use in promoting coagulation, wherein the modified histone protein has reduced cytotoxicity as compared to a corresponding wild-type histone protein. The invention also relates to said modified histone proteins for use in promoting coagulation in the inhibition of bleeding and in promoting coagulation in a coagulation assay. In addition, the invention relates to a method of promoting coagulation in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising the step of providing the subject with said modified histone proteins. The invention also relates to an expression vector comprising a nucleic acid encoding said modified histone protein.
