  • Publication number: 20220167355
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed, the apparatus comprising means for assigning a plurality of user devices, flows and/or data bearers to a network slice of a plurality of network slices, determining whether transmissions via the network slice satisfy a target and, based on determining whether transmissions via the network slice satisfy the target, adjusting a weighted resource allocation metric associated with each user device, flow and/or data bearer of said network slice using one or more calculated offsets, the offsets being calculated so that respective weights, associated with each user device, flow or data bearer on said network slice, are adjusted such that their resource allocations are substantially proportional to their associated weight. The apparatus means may also allocate to the user devices, flows and/or data bearers, based on their respective adjusted weighted resource allocation metrics, transmission resources of the network.

  • Publication number: 20210037544
Abstract: Wireless transmissions via a wireless network may be improved by using network slice tokens. One or more user devices may be assigned to a network slice or several network slices, and a computing device may determine whether transmissions via the network slice satisfy target(s). Based on whether the target(s) are satisfied, a token counter value associated with the network slice may be adjusted. A weight associated with each flow or user may be determined based on the token counter value. A computing device may allocate transmission resources to the flow or user based on the weight.

  • Patent number: 10827490
Abstract: Systems, methods, and software for managing radio resources for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications. A geographic area is segmented into zones with a subset of the transmission slots allocated to each of the zones. The subset of the transmission slots allocated to each zone is partitioned into periodic transmission slots assignable to individual vehicles for periodic transmissions and special transmission slots reserved for special transmissions according to a contention-based protocol. A resource manager stores a mapping of transmission slots for each of the zones. When a vehicle enters one of the zones, the resource manager performs a slot assignment for the vehicle from the periodic transmission slots allocated to the zone, and transmits a notification to the vehicle indicating the slot assignment.

  • Publication number: 20150347316
Abstract: Process for managing the storage of a list (L) of N items (I[i]) in a memory cache (M) of C items (I[i]) of said list, said N items being ordered in said list according to a rank i which depends of their last request time by a user, C, N and i being strictly positive integers, said process providing, upon the reception of a request for an item (I[i]), for calculating a popularity probability f(i) for said requested item, f being an acceleration function, and for deciding to move or not said requested item at a higher rank i according to said popularity probability.

  • Publication number: 20130151688
Abstract: Various exemplary embodiments relate to a method for reallocating loading from a datacenter site to other datacenter sites in a cloud computing network using an objective function that defines a performance characteristic of the cloud computing network at each datacenter site and a derivative of the objective function, the method comprising: evaluating the derivative for each of a set of other datacenter sites; identifying based upon the evaluated derivatives a datacenter site in the set of datacenter sites that results in the smallest increase in the objective function; and reallocating loading among the datacenter site and the other datacenter sites based upon the evaluated derivatives and the identified other datacenter site.

  • Publication number: 20060239224
Abstract: At least one base station of a wireless network adjusts its access area so as to drive at least one measure of utilization of a resource or resources of that cell toward, but not to exceed, a specified maximum level. The adjustment is dynamic in that it responds in real time to traffic fluctuations. The adjustment is autonomous in that it is not directed from outside the cell. The access area of the cell is determined by the received strength, at the respective users, of a beacon channel transmitted from the base station. In specific implementations, the access area may be adjusted by adjusting the effective signal transmit strength of the beacon signal, or by adjusting the tilt of the antenna that transmits to the cell.

  • Publication number: 20060223545
Abstract: A wireless mobile device is configured to set up communications via wireless links with wireless base stations of a cellular communication system and to obtain information indicative of shadow prices of said wireless base stations via wireless transmissions. Each of the wireless base stations has a corresponding shadow price. The wireless mobile device is configured to make a select one of the wireless base stations for a wireless link with the wireless mobile device based on the information indicative of the shadow prices.

  • Publication number: 20050227697
Abstract: Techniques and systems for channel prediction in wireless networks. A base station receives a succession of channel indicators from each of a plurality of mobile units, each channel indicator being received from each mobile unit once per timeslot. A channel predictor uses the channel indicators to generate a channel condition prediction for each mobile unit, the channel condition prediction being based on a balanced estimate using the most recent channel condition indicator and the mean of the succession of channel indicators. A weight is computed based on a gradient of the succession channel indicator values and used to assign relative emphasis to the most recent channel condition indicator and the mean channel condition indicator in order to give greater emphasis to the most recent indicator during slowly changing conditions and greater emphasis to the mean indicator during rapidly changing conditions.
