  • Patent number: 6895858
Abstract: A collecting cylinder for a folder unit is provided with at least one disk cam that has peripheral switching depressions. These switching depressions can be covered by using an auxiliary curved trajectory which is created by a pivoting drive. Switching levers are selectively blocked or unblocked by motor-driven rotatable switching parts.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 4, 2002
Date of Patent: May 24, 2005
    Assignee: Koenig & Bauer Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Simon Kostiza, Viktor Cernovski, Karl-Heinz Fischer, Sebastian Alois Prüm, Rudolf Stäb
  • Patent number: 6869388
Abstract: A folding blade cylinder for use in a folding machine includes a cylindrical cradle and a folding blade that can be situated in various positions in the cylindrical cradle. Each position of the folding blade corresponds to a gap in the cylinder cradle surface. These gaps are separated from ach other by segments of the cylindrical cradle. In order to move the folding blade from one gap to another, the folding blade is retracted into the interior of the folding blade cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6514188
Abstract: A folding jaw cylinder utilizes folding jaw pairs that automatically adjust the folding gap between the two jaws in each pair in response to the thickness of the folded product. A dual working chamber piston-cylinder unit is placed between first and second rotational carriers of the folding jaw members. One of the chambers is filed with liquid and is linked to a hydraulic accumulator by ways of a flow control valve. The second chamber is provided with compressed air.

  • Patent number: 6004242
Abstract: A cylinder of, for example, a folding apparatus in a rotary printing machine is provided with rotating cam wheels that drive perforating needles or folding blades. These cam wheels can be phase adjusted by use of a planetary gear drive that includes a planetary wheel and ring gear. The position of the engagement between the planetary wheel and the ring gear is variable.

  • Patent number: 5983753
Abstract: A gear assembly is used to adjust the phase of a plurality of rotating driving devices, such a rotary cover cams in a collecting and folding cylinder. The plurality of rotating driving devices can be phase adjusted with respect to each other through the use of individual sets of planetary gears. The planetary gear sets are coaxially and successively arranged on a shaft.

  • Patent number: 5816125
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for the removal of trimming strips located on point needles, it is intended to convey the trimming strips from a cylinder rotating at high rpm, in particular a blade cylinder of a scissors cut device, to a disposal device. This is achieved in an operation in which in that the speared trimming strips are completely pushed off the point needles by stripping fingers acting on them from beneath. The removed trimming strips are supplied to a disposal device.
