  • Patent number: 5084370
Abstract: An optical recording element in which information can be recorded and read directly afterwards by means of laser light, the element comprising, as a recording medium, a dye, which is not capable of being isomerized due to light, dissolved or dispersed in a binder, the binder comprising a thermally cured organic material composed of non-metallic elements only, and having a cross-linked three-dimensional network structure. The thermally cured binder provides improved stability to repeated read.

  • Patent number: 4695531
Abstract: A light-sensitive silver halide element for radiographic use with intensifying screens has coated on at least one side of a transparent base at least a spectrally sensitized silver halide emulsion layer and, coated between the base and a silver halide emulsion layer, a hydrophilic colloid layer containing a water-soluble acid dye capable of being decolorized during the photographic processing, said dye having its absorption in a region of the electromagnetic spectrum corresponding to the spectral sensitivity of the silver halide emulsion, associated with a basic polymeric mordant which comprises repeating units of formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a methyl group, A is a --COO-- or --COO--alkylene group, R.sub.2 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl group and X is an anion. The invention allows the use of low coverage weights of silver halide light-sensitive elements and provides x-ray images with a favorable image quality and sensitivity ratio.

  • Patent number: 4450230
Abstract: Photographic elements, comprising a support, at least a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and an external non light-sensitive gelatin protective layer, have the surface delustered by the presence in the external protective layer of water-soluble vinyl polymers which contain, as pendant groups, methylolamide moieties.Preferably said water-soluble vinyl polymers are polymethylolacrylamide and copolymers of methylolacrylamide and other unsaturated vinyl monomers, such as ethylacrylate, acrylamide, acrylic acid, ethylvinylether and butylvinylether, said copolymers containing at least 50% by weight of unities derived from the vinyl monomer containing the methylolamide moiety.

  • Patent number: 4424273
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved photographic polyester support base coated with a first hydrophobic subbing layer and a second hydrophilic subbing layer, the improvement consisting of having said second subbing layer derived from a hardener containing, aqueous coating composition including (1) gelatin, (2) a vinyl addition polymer compound and (3) a low viscosity highly sulfonated water soluble polyacetal compound derived from the reaction of an aldehyde sulfonic acid compound with a polyvinyl alcohol compound, the relative quantities of said gelatin and vinyl addition polymer compound to the polyacetal compound being such as to provide good adhesion characteristics without any significant loss in antistatic properties.
