The apparatus includes a detection unit for detecting an actual driving behavior of the vehicle driver, a determining unit for determining whether the actual driver behavior corresponds to a predefined sporty driving behavior, and a control unit for deactivating the safety system prior to carrying out the braking operation when the actual driving behavior corresponds to a predefined sporty driving behavior.
