Abstract: A surfactant composition includes a first surfactant, a second surfactant, and a polyalkylene glycol. The first surfactant is of the general formula R1—O—(A)mH, wherein R1 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon having 10 carbon atoms, A is an alkyleneoxy group having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, and m is a positive number. The second surfactant is of the general formula R2—O—(B)nH, wherein R2 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon having from 12 to 14 carbon atoms, B is an alkyleneoxy group having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, and n is a positive number. The polyalkylene glycol is present in the surfactant composition in an amount of from 3 to 20 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the surfactant composition.

  • Publication number: 20090023820
Abstract: The present invention relates to a surfactant mixture comprising (A) a short-chain component comprising the alkoxylation product of alkanols, where the alkanols have 8 to 12 carbon atoms and the average number of alkoxy groups per alkanol group in the alkoxylation product assumes a value from 3 to 30 and the alkoxy groups are chosen from the group consisting of ethoxy, propoxy, butoxy and pentoxy groups and the alkanols have an average degree of branching of at least 1; and (B) a long-chain component comprising the alkoxylation product of alkanols where the alkanols have 13 to 20 carbon atoms and the average number of alkoxy groups per alkanol group in the alkoxylation product assumes a value from 3 to 30 and the alkoxy groups are chosen from the group consisting of ethoxy, propoxy, butoxy and pentoxy groups and the alkanols have an average degree of branching of from 0.0 to 0.3; and phosphate esters, sulfate esters and ether carboxylates thereof.

  • Publication number: 20060183627
Abstract: Method of regenerating an Re2O7-doped supported catalyst which has been deactivated by use in the metathesis of a hydrocarbon mixture comprising C2-C6-olefins (C2-6= feed) (deactivated catalyst), which comprises treating the deactivated catalyst with an inert gas (regeneration gas K1) at from 400 to 800° C. and subsequently treating the deactivated catalyst which has been pretreated with regeneration gas K1 with an oxygen-containing gas (regeneration gas K2).

  • Publication number: 20050107628
Abstract: A process for preparing surfactant alcohols and surfactant alcohol ethers by derivatization of olefins having about 10 to 20 carbon atoms or of mixtures of such olefins and optional subsequent alkoxylation is described. As features, the process involves (a) subjecting a C4-olefin mixture with a 1-butene/2-butene ratio of ?1.2 to a metathesis, (b) separating off olefins having 5 to 8 carbon atoms from the metathesis mixture, (c) subjecting the separated-off olefins individually or in a mixture to a dimerization to give olefin mixtures having 10 to 16 carbon atoms, (d) subjecting the resulting olefin mixture, optionally after a fractionation, to derivatization to give a mixture of surfactant alcohols and (e) optionally alkoxylating the surfactant alcohols. The olefin mixture obtained in the dimerization comprises a high content of branched components and less than 10% by weight of compounds which contain a vinylidene group.
