  • Patent number: 7907209
Abstract: There is provided a method for converting an image with N rows of pixels present and N rows of pixels missing to an image with 2N rows of pixels, wherein the missing pixels are generated by performing a deinterlacing algorithm. The algorithm determines whether missing pixels are part of a horizontal edge region, a smooth region, a vertical edge region or a texture region. Based on the determination, a deinterlacing method is selected.

  • Publication number: 20100254281
Abstract: An apparatus and method for supporting Peer to Peer (P2P) communication in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. A P2P zone within a frame used for the P2P communication includes at least one channel, each channel includes a broadcasting zone and a contention zone, and a P2P-mode transmit Mobile Station (MS) transmits a reference signal through a broadcasting zone of a channel to which itself belongs. The method MS includes determining an interference sum for each channel within the P2P zone, comparing the determined interference sums with each other, selecting a channel having the least interference sum, and transmitting information regarding the selected channel to a Base Station (BS).

  • Publication number: 20100039556
Abstract: System and methodologies are provided herein for de-interlacing a video sequence. Various aspects described herein can utilize a motion adaptive video de-interlacing algorithm based on block-based texture classification and a multi-level decision hierarchy to interpolate missing fields of an interlaced video signal in the spatial and temporal domains. In accordance with various aspects described herein, respective blocks of an interlaced video sequence can be classified by a texture classifier as “textured” or “non-textured.” Based on this classification, one or more motion detection schemes can be utilized to determine whether the respective blocks are static or moving. Missing pixels from one or more blocks can then be estimated using the texture and motion classifications based on values of neighboring lines and/or pixels in the field from which the block was obtained as well as values of corresponding pixel locations in temporally adjacent fields.

  • Publication number: 20090298510
Abstract: A method of performing scheduling and a method of controlling call admission in a communication system are disclosed. A method of controlling call admission a new user equipment which enters a network in a communication system includes performing scheduling by giving priority lower than that of a user equipment which is previously receiving a service to the new user equipment, and determining whether to admit call of the new user equipment depending a result of scheduling for a certain time period.

  • Patent number: 6212582
Abstract: A method for controlling data packet traffic flow over a bus interconnecting two or more nodes in a data communication system, each node having a unique address associated therewith and having a respective buffer memory for temporarily holding incoming data communicated thereto, each node further being capable of multicast sending of data packets over the bus to one or more nodes having respective addresses logically associated a unique address, the method comprising: checking current available buffer memory occupancy upon receipt of a data packet, the node being capable of outputting for transmission on the bus a first flow control indicator message when the data temporarily stored in the buffer memory is above a first buffer occupancy threshold associated with data of a first priority type, and a second flow control indicator message when the data temporarily stored in the buffer memory is above a second buffer occupancy threshold, the second buffer occupancy threshold being greater than the first occupancy

  • Patent number: 5983278
Abstract: In a switch fabric environment, which includes a buffer, packet data of different class-types from different sources is received, stored in the buffer, processed and outputted to its intended destination. As the buffer fills up, transmission from some of the data sources is stopped to avoid dropping of packets. To avoid packet loss, when the occupancy of the buffer reaches a first threshold value, further transmission of a first-class type of data is precluded from the particular source of that data then being received, while transmission from other sources of that same first-class type of data is not precluded from these other data sources until first-class type of data from such other sources is also received. Further, data of a second-class type is not precluded from being transmitted as long as the amount of data stored in the buffer remains below a second threshold, which is greater than the first threshold.

  • Patent number: 5864538
Abstract: Novel rate-based flow control methods operate in conjunction with a data communications network. Such networks include a plurality of interconnected nodes, wherein each node is adapted for connection to any of a plurality of sources. The sources send data to, and receive data from, the nodes. The path that data follows in traveling from a first source, through one or more nodes, to a second source, is referred to as a virtual circuit path. Each node includes a processor and an associated memory for storing a data queue of data received from sources. According to one embodiment, referred to as first-order rate-based flow control, a node allocates a data transfer rate to a source based upon the difference between the current queue length at that node and the queue threshold of that node multiplied by a gain.
