  • Patent number: 9087238
Abstract: The present invention relates to an iris recognition device and method capable of improving iris recognition accuracy. To enhance iris recognition accuracy in consideration of variation in pupil size and iris region due to changes in intensity of lighting, the iris recognition device and method are configured to obtain multiple iris images having different iris sizes by capturing iris images of a person to be enrolled with a camera while adjusting brightness of lighting so that the iris size of the person to be enrolled varies from a maximum size to a minimum size, store the obtained iris images and associated iris size information for enrollment in a database interworking with the iris recognition device, and select enrolled iris images having an iris size most similar to that of an iris image captured by the camera for identification among many enrolled iris images for similarity measurement.

  • Patent number: 8433105
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for acquiring region-of-interest and/or cognitive information from an eye image, comprising the steps of: preprocessing, standardizing, and coding the group of eye images for region-of-interest information or cognitive information to create eye image codes and to build a characteristic eye library in a memory in order to improve an iris recognition rate; grouping and partitioning or covering eye codes for eye images stored in the characteristic eye library into a plurality of groups, and obtaining a representative eye code of each of the eye code groups, preprocessing, standardizing, and coding a new eye image not assigned region-of-interest information or cognitive information in the same way as the above-described step to create a test eye code, matching the test eye image to the most similar eye image in the characteristic eye library, and transferring the region-of-interest information or cognitive information assigned to the matched eye image to the test eye image.

  • Publication number: 20120062720
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for acquiring high quality eye images, comprising the steps of: dividing a camera mode for eye image acquisition into a pre-photographing mode and a main photographing mode, comparing the degree of eye capture, actual eye, resolution, contrast ratio, noise level, angle of the face when an object to be photographed stares at a lens, location of the pupil in the eye, and the degree of exposure of the iris in the eye, etc.

  • Patent number: 8009876
Abstract: An iris identification method and system, which divide an iris image, which is acquired for personal identification, into a plurality of equal/unequal and multiscale regions, generate a corresponding code corresponding to the respective regions, organizing codes into a database, generate a code at the time of authentication in the same manner, and identify a person by comparing this code with the codes stored in the database, thus improving identification speed and rate.
