  • Publication number: 20160377293
Abstract: In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, a fuel injector system can include an air mixer defining an outer air circuit, at least one intermediate air circuit, and an inner air circuit. The fuel injector system can also include a fuel manifold defining a fuel circuit, at least a portion of which is operatively disposed within the air mixer such that the fuel circuit and the intermediate air circuit are in fluid communication with each other for atomization of fuel. At least one of the air mixer or the fuel manifold can be additively manufactured.

  • Patent number: 9394996
Abstract: A sealing device is provided for use with an assembly having radially inner and outer parts in fluid communication and movable relative to one another. The sealing device includes a first annular lip which defines an opening for receiving the radially inner part, and an annular channel disposed radially outward of the opening. The first annular lip is configured and adapted for deformation and compressive sealed engagement with the radially inner part while permitting movement of the radially inner part relative thereto. An annular body integrally formed with the first annular lip of the sealing device defines an interior space in communication with the annular channel and the opening. The annular body extends radially outward of the first annular lip and is configured and adapted for sealed engagement with the radially outer part.

  • Patent number: 8967852
Abstract: A mixer for mixing immiscible fluids includes a mixer housing defining a flow passage therethrough from a first fluid inlet to an outlet thereof. An upstream portion of the flow passage defines a main longitudinal axis. A second fluid inlet is provided downstream of the first fluid inlet in fluid communication with the upstream portion of the flow passage. The second fluid inlet is offset with respect to the main longitudinal axis of the flow passage to introduce fluid along a path that is offset with respect to the main longitudinal axis for inducing swirl on fluids introduced at the first and second fluid inlets. In certain embodiments, a mixer section is included having a flow constriction defined in a downstream portion of the flow passage with a flow area smaller than that of the upstream portion of the flow passage for enhancing turbulent mixing of fluids therein.

  • Publication number: 20090255258
Abstract: An air-blast fuel injector is disclosed that includes an on-axis inner air circuit, a fuel circuit radially outboard of the inner air circuit, the fuel circuit having an axially converging pre-filming chamber and an axially diverging pre-filming surface extending from the pre-filming chamber to an exit annulus and an outer air circuit radially outboard of the fuel circuit communicating with the exit annulus of the axially diverging pre-filming surface.

  • Patent number: 6401447
Abstract: A combustor apparatus for a gas turbine engine includes a combustor liner support having an annular dome panel and a plurality of load transfer members extending axially therefrom. The dome panel maintains inner and outer combustor liners in spaced relation to define a combustion chamber. The load transfer members extend into a diffuser flowpath defined by inner and outer flowpath structures which are interconnected by a plurality of struts. Each of the load transfer members surrounds at least a portion of a corresponding strut to shield the strut from fluid flowing through the diffuser flowpath.
