  • Patent number: 11164193
Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a server associated with a merchant, an identification token associated with a mobile device located in a service environment associated with the merchant, and receiving an address of a profile agent associated with and distinct from the mobile device. The identification token includes an opaque token generated by a source other than the mobile device. The method includes sending to the profile agent a request for a user profile associated with the mobile device, where the request includes the identification token, and receiving an opaque user profile responsive to the request. The method includes sending a personalized offer associated with the merchant to the profile agent based on the opaque user profile. • Patent number: 10462247
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to customize web content using customization services are disclosed. An example method includes accessing, by executing an instruction with a processor of a first server, a first request for web content. The web content resides on the first server and the first request originates from a client device and includes indication of a characteristic of the client device. The method further includes generating, by executing an instruction with the processor of the first server, a second request to transform the web content into modified web content based on the characteristic of the client device. The second request includes a universal resource locator of the web content. The method also includes obtaining the modified web content from a second server in response to the first server transmitting the second request to the second server and transmitting the modified web content, from the first server to the client device.

  • Patent number: 9854058
Abstract: A third-party profile service based on a proxy server model is described, where a user's profile service resides at a URL, in contrast to a profile service that requires federation identity. A profile service is provided that augments location-based services offered by service providers targeting mobile users via, for example, wireless and Wifi Networks. Additional personalization is driven by identity/profile services. Participants in the scenario are not required to share an identity or profile (i.e., static federation is not required). The user establishes a single profile with a trusted provider, hands-off solicitations to a profile agent that operates on behalf of the user to apply policies and preferences. The agent also provides privacy and anonymity (opaqueness).

  • Patent number: 8867724
Abstract: Devices, methods and systems for enhanced ringing features on communications terminals. Flexible user-established rules, customized in a subscriber profile database, enable the ring-tone to vary based on caller-id, caller priority, call-urgency (as determined by caller), call context and so forth. Call set-up logic applies the profile rules prior to completing the call set-up. “Buzz-tones” extend the basic distinctive ringing feature to the “silent” mode that is currently available on cell-phones, which is of particular utility to subscribers with hearing disabilities. Other kinds of alerts (audio/motion/visual) like flashing colors on a display, moving pictures and the like, and any combination of notification modes, are contemplated by alternative embodiments.

  • Patent number: 8634539
Abstract: An application that resides on a subscriber PC with a constantly updated back-end knowledge base provides solutions to specific problems. The resident application, termed Computer Health and Performance Check (“CHPC”), performs preventative maintenance tasks on the subscriber's PC, such as checking for adware/spyware, viruses, determining whether the disk needs to be defragmented, and the like. In its various embodiments, the system includes a client-side resident PC diagnostic and health performance check tool that is used in conjunction with live customer assistance to provide in-home managed PC support services. Additionally, or in the alternative, customer support is automated with a knowledge base. The system supports VoIP SIP clients to automate and set up certain features.

  • Patent number: 8621197
Abstract: A user agent in a Web access device transmits an HTTP request for Web content to an origin server. The request contains a set of capabilities of the Web access device. A content authoring mechanism and adaptation determination service on the origin server process the request to determine what transformation is required to make the requested content fit the capabilities of the Web access device. The adaptation determination service invokes a niche transformation service that performs, in response to the content and the capabilities, the necessary transformation. The transformed Web content is transmitted to the user agent.
