  • Patent number: 11281298
Abstract: An information handling system includes a touch sensitive area, which in turn includes an array of pressure sensors and a haptics controller. The array of pressure sensors includes a first pressure sensor. When activated, the first pressure sensor provides an XY location based on a location of the first pressure sensor in the array of pressure sensors. The haptics controller receives an XY location from the first pressure sensor, and a location of a pen device from a pen digitizer circuit. The haptics controller calculates whether the XY location and the location of the pen device are substantially the same location. In response to the XY location and the location of the pen device being substantially the same location, the haptics controller disables haptic feedback within the touch sensitive area.

  • Patent number: 11222518
Abstract: An information handling system includes a host device and multiple monitor devices. One of the monitor devices is configured as a parent monitor device, and the remaining monitor devices are configured as child monitor devices. The parent monitor device receives a user presence detect (UPD) status signal, and queries all of the child monitor devices for a current UPD status. In response to the queries, the parent monitor consolidates the current UPD status from each of the child monitor devices and the current UPD status of the parent monitor device. Based on the consolidated current UPD status and based on a UPD policy, the parent monitor device sets a current user status as a user absence or presence. In response to the processor being in a low power state and the current user status being the user presence, the patent monitor device provides a wake notification to the host device.

  • Publication number: 20210240248
Abstract: A system and method for ensuring information present in volatile memory is moved to persistent memory before power is removed. An information handling system stores a time value corresponding to an amount of time for power to be supplied to the information handling system after a signal is received to power down the information handling system. An embedded controller determines the amount of information present in volatile memory, determines an amount of time needed to move the information to persistent memory, and adjusts the time value as needed to ensure power is supplied to the system until the information has been moved to persistent memory.

  • Publication number: 20210232206
Abstract: In one or more embodiments, one or more systems, methods, and/or processes may: determine a utilization value of a processor; determine that the utilization value is at or is above a threshold utilization value; determine a temperature value of the processor; determine a temperature value of a voltage regulator that provides power to the processor; determine if the temperature value of the processor is below a first threshold value and if the temperature value of the voltage regulator is below a second threshold value; if so: determine first power utilization information that informs the processor that it is utilizing less power than it is currently utilizing and provide the first power utilization information to the processor; and otherwise: determine second power utilization information that informs the processor that it is utilizing more power than it is currently utilizing and provide the second power utilization information to the processor.

  • Patent number: 11017823
Abstract: A system and method for dynamically adjusting a critical temperature threshold of non-volatile memory to ensure full capture of information to non-volatile memory before the information handling system hibernates. If the operating temperature of the non-volatile memory reaches a critical temperature threshold, a controller determines the memory size of information in volatile memory. If there is a maximum memory size, the controller uses the default critical temperature threshold as the critical temperature threshold and initiates a process to write information to the non-volatile memory and hibernates the system. If there is less than the maximum memory size, the controller may dynamically increase the critical temperature threshold based on the memory size such that the information in volatile memory can be written to the non-volatile memory before the information handling system hibernates.

  • Publication number: 20210110016
Abstract: A system and method using a system for authenticating a person as an authorized user before waking an information handling system from an inactive state. A sensor receives an input from a person, captures information about the person and a microcontroller unit (MCU) determines if the captured information matches information corresponding to an authorized user. If the MCU determines the captured information corresponds to information corresponding to an authorized user, the MCU sends a command to one of a central processing unit (CPU) or an embedded controller (EC) to change operation of the information handling system to an active state. If the MCU determines the captured information does not correspond to information corresponding to an authorized user, no command is sent to the CPU or EC to change operation of the information handling system.

  • Publication number: 20200220883
Abstract: Plural Internet of Things (IoT) gateways detect, secure against and remediate malicious code with an autonomous communication of tokens between the IoT gateways on a time schedule. Detection of an invalid token or a token communication outside of a scheduled time indicates that malicious code may have interfered with token generation or communication. Verification of a token communication to an IoT gateway that failed in turn to pass the token to another IoT gateway indicates that the IoT gateway is a threat that may include malicious code.
