  • Publication number: 20120082810
Abstract: Coated articles may comprise one or more coating layers, including water resistant coatings. A method comprises applying such coating layers by dip, spray or flow coating. The methods can make coated containers, preferably comprising polyethylene terephthalate, from coated preforms. In some methods, the aqueous solutions, dispersions, or emulsions are substantially or completely free of VOCs.

  • Publication number: 20070087131
Abstract: Coated articles may comprise one or more coating layers, including water resistant coatings. A method comprises applying such coating layers by treating the article substrate by one or more methods selected from flame treatment, corona treatment, ionized air treatment, plasma air treatment and plasma arc treatment and dip, spray or flow coating. Additionally, a method comprises injection molding a first substrate material to form an article, treating the article surface by one or more methods selected from flame treatment, corona treatment, ionized air treatment, plasma air treatment and plasma arc treatment, and overmolding the article substrate with one or more barrier materials.

  • Publication number: 20060062952
Abstract: A seamless collapsible container has a molded finish, configured and adapted for sealing with a closure and, optionally, for attachment to a dispensing apparatus, and a seamless, blow molded body portion, comprising an inner surface, an outer surface, and a wall, where the wall is sufficiently thin to allow the body portion to collapse, and the molded finish and at least an inner layer of the body portion together comprise a seamless, single piece of thermoplastic material. The seamless collapsible container may be used in such applications as a bag-in-box, a carton liner, and a beverage pouch.

  • Publication number: 20060006586
Abstract: Blends of non-solid stated RPET and an amount of PEN and/or NDC less than about 10 percent by weight are used as at least one layer of an article, such as a container or a preform for blow molding a container, having an inner layer of a thermoplastic material. The addition of the small amount of PEN and/or NDC allows the direct use of RPET without solid stating, and provides articles having environmental stress crack resistance, color, and organoleptic properties comparable to that of virgin PET.

  • Publication number: 20040013833
Abstract: Disclosed are compatibilized polymer blends comprising polyester, polyamide and a compatibilizer. Such compatibilized polymer blends, in preferred embodiments, are fabricated into monolayer or multilayer preforms and/or containers. Containers comprising such blends exhibit good gas barrier properties against gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide, have a good appearance and may be used as containers for a wide variety of consumer products, including beverages, edibles and cosmetics. In multilayer containers comprising one or more layers of the compatibilized polymer blend and one or more layers of PET or PET-containing copolymers, the present containers have greatly improved impact delamination resistance as compared to those formed using uncompatibilized blends.
