  • Patent number: 10753962
Abstract: A shrinkable cable joint includes a joint insulating layer that surrounds a connection region configured to house two connected cable ends. A joint semiconductive layer surrounds the joint insulating layer. A joint screen layer surrounds the joint semiconductive layer. A joint sheath surrounds the joint screen layer. A capacitive voltage sensor is arranged between the joint screen layer and the joint semiconductive layer. The capacitive voltage sensor includes a sensor insulating layer having a first side and an opposite second side; a sensor electrode and a guard electrode arranged on the second side and directly contacting the joint semiconductive layer; and a sensor conductive layer arranged on the first side. The sensor conductive layer includes a first conductive layer portion in direct contact with the joint screen layer and electrically coupled to the guard electrode and a second conductive layer portion electrically coupled to the sensor electrode.

  • Patent number: 8864503
Abstract: A biasing connector for biasing a shielding element of a power cable in connection with a cable joint, wherein an external sheath extends over a length of a cable sheath, may include an end portion configured to contact the shielding element and a conductive tape having a first end, connected to the end portion of the biasing connector, and a second end, configured to connect to a terminal providing a biasing voltage. At least one portion of the conductive tape may include at least one layer of a solid flat element having a width substantially equal to a transversal width of the conductive tape. The at least one portion of the conductive tape may be at least partly covered by the external sheath.

  • Patent number: 8410366
Abstract: A protection device for a power cable that includes a central conductor surrounded by insulation based on paper impregnated with material based on impregnation oil may include a sheath around the insulation, a first portion of the cable stripped of the sheath, an adjacent portion of the cable stripped of both the insulation and sheath, the adjacent portion penetrating the connector; an outer protection extending over at least the first and adjacent portions, and extending over the connector; and/or a plug of high-permittivity mastic material filling an axial space extending along the adjacent portion. The outer protection may include a barrier layer in contact with the insulation along at least part of the first portion. The barrier layer may include elastomer material that is virtually impermeable to the oil. The plug may axially separate the barrier layer and connector to prevent migration of the oil into the connector.

  • Publication number: 20120322303
Abstract: A biasing connector (150) is disclosed. The biasing connector is configured to bias a shielding element (135) of a power cable (105) in connection with a cable joint, wherein an external sheath (144) extends over a length of a cable sheath (137). The biasing connector includes an end portion (155; 505) for contacting the shielding element, and a conductive tape (165) having a first end connected to the end portion of the biasing connector and a second end adapted to be connected to a terminal (160) providing a biasing voltage. At least one portion (165, 308) of the conductive tape comprises at least one layer of a solid flat element having a width substantially equal to a transversal width (wd) of the conductive tape (165); said at least one portion is at least partly covered by the external sheath (144).

  • Patent number: 6568690
Abstract: A flat conductor made in the form of a tubular conductor is sealed at an end connection using a rigid core of convex external surface. The rigid core is slipped into an end part of the tubular flat conductor. A protective sleeve made of a cold-recoverable material seals the conductor in compression between the core and the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 6472600
Abstract: A power cable joint device includes at least one tubular rigid support element, a cold-shrinkable, pre-expanded sleeve, and a releasable means for immobilizing the at least one support element with respect to the pre-expanded sleeve. Most of an exterior surface of the at least one support element is lubricated by a grease that does not flow under action of a pressure exerted by the pre-expanded sleeve. The pre-expanded sleeve grips the at least one support element over most of a length of the at least one support element. The pre-expanded sleeve also grips the at least one support element at internal ends of the at least one support element. The grease is based on a silicone or on a polyalkylene glycol and includes a filler, a pressure-withstanding additive, or both the filler and the pressure-withstanding additive.
