Patent number: 9851348Abstract: A lateral flow immunoassay system is provided that includes a housing having a base portion forming a first chamber therein and a body portion formed with three openings in fluid communication with the first chamber, a vial containing a buffer agent, and a sample collector for introducing a sample fluid into the first chamber via the second opening. The vial is mounted to the housing such that a dispensing side extends into the first opening for dispensing the buffer agent therefrom into the first chamber. The housing allows the buffer agent and sample fluid to be mixed within a reaction well formed within the first chamber to form a test sample mixture. The body portion is configured to receive a receiving end of an elongated holder in the third opening and allow a test strip secured in the holder to be brought into communication with the text sample mixture.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2014Date of Patent: December 26, 2017Assignee: AMERICAN BIO MEDICA CORPORATIONInventors: Douglas Casterlin, Larry Ferringo, Ian Sullivan, Rob Bernstine, Rich Reilly, Pablo Arroyo, Stan Cipkowski

Publication number: 20030232451Abstract: A diagnostic test device has a thin flat core member having at least one groove indented into its face and an immunoassay strip is seated in each of the grooves. Physical projections in the form of nibs are on the opposed longitudinal edges of each groove for retaining a test strip in its groove. In a process for making such an immunoassay diagnostic test device the thin flat core member is molded from a high impact resistant plastic material and grooves are indented into a face of the core member. During molding, projecting points are formed on both edges of the groove but spaced apart such a distance to enable a test strip to be pushed there-between. The drug device is assembled by pushing a test strip past the projecting points onto the bottom of the groove such that the strip is retained in the groove by the projecting points.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2003Publication date: December 18, 2003Inventors: Douglas Casterlin, Stan Cipkowski

Publication number: 20020137231Abstract: A drug abuse test kit has a transparent cup-like container for retaining a fluid sample to be tested and the open top end of the container is closed by a closure cap seated upon the open end. There is a slit in the closure cap to receive a multiple drug test card having a plurality of immunoassay test strips thereon with visual endpoints to indicate presence or absence of a particular drug. The container is provided with a second cover which is solid and unslit to close and seal the container when a sample therein is to be transported.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2002Publication date: September 26, 2002Applicant: American Bio Medica Corp.Inventor: Stan Cipkowski

Patent number: 6406922Abstract: A drug of abuse test kit for testing low volumes of a fluid sample having a transparent flat bag container for retaining a fluid sample to be tested and the open end of the container has a recloseable closure. The container is maintained in a substantially vertical position and has an open end which receives a multiple drug test card having a plurality of immunoassay test strips thereon with visual endpoints to indicate presence or absence of a particular drug. A process and a modification thereof for testing of low volumes of a fluid sample and a process for quality control of a test card are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2001Date of Patent: June 18, 2002Assignee: American Bio Medica Corp.Inventors: Douglas Casterlin, Henry J. Wells, Stan Cipkowski

Patent number: 6403383Abstract: A diagnostic test kit has a cup-like container for retaining a fluid sample to be tested and the open top end of the container is closed by a closure cap on the open end. There is a slit in the closure cap to receive a multiple test card having a plurality of immunoassay test strips thereon with visual endpoints to indicate presence or absence of a selected antigen or antibody. The height of the container is such that the visual indication of the presence or absence of a selected antigen or antibody is visible above the closure cap when the bottom end of the test card is in contact with the fluid sample within the container.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1999Date of Patent: June 11, 2002Assignee: American Bio Medica Corp.Inventors: Douglas Casterlin, Stan Cipkowski

Patent number: 6372515Abstract: A test card for drugs of abuse has a thin flat member having the size and shape of a business card. A plurality of immunoassay test strips extend longitudinally from top to bottom at the card and are fastened side by side in parallel on one or both sides of the test card within the outline of the card. Each test strip is reactive to provide a visual indication in response to a particular drug of abuse. The test card thus provides for the simultaneous detection of multiple analytes. Processes are also disclosed for making the drug test card with test strips on one and both sides of the card.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1999Date of Patent: April 16, 2002Assignee: American Bio Medica CorporationInventors: Douglas Casterlin, Henry J. Wells, Stan Cipkowski
