  • Patent number: 11443641
Abstract: Methods and systems for modifying a flight plan to implement micro-shortcuts. The system identifies a segment of interest within an initial flight plan, the segment of interest being a section to consider for a micro-shortcut. The system determined a geographical environment associated with the segment of interest and determines a relevant air traffic control (ATC) for the geographical environment. The system requests, from the relevant ATC, an amount of deviation from the initial flight plan for the segment of interest. Upon obtaining permission for the amount of deviation from the initial flight plan for the segment of interest, the system calculates a shortest path (i.e., a micro-shortcut) for the segment of interest. The system modifies the initial flight plan and commands the FMS to fly the shortest path for the segment of interest.

  • Patent number: 11302200
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for analyzing flight records to assign procedures to the flight records. One method involves identifying a set of procedures for potential association with a flight record based at least in part on a runway associated with the flight record, identifying a probable procedure from among the set of procedures based on a relationship between a trajectory associated with the probable procedure and flight data associated with the flight record, and updating the flight record to maintain an association with the probable procedure. The flown trajectory represented by the flight data is mapped to the procedure trajectories to identify the probable procedure executed during the flight associated with the flight record based on the relative adherence of the flown trajectory to the procedural legs that constitute the procedure trajectory.

  • Patent number: 10613222
Abstract: A method implementing a probabilistic weather severity estimation system is provided. The method includes gathering meteorological information from a plurality of vehicles based on a non-periodic iteratively optimized communication method that at least in part takes into consideration an vehicle's position and heading in relation to a weather event. A probabilistic weather severity estimation for future weather conditions is calculated based at least in part on the gathered meteorological information and an assigning of computed probabilistic weather severity values to nodes in a matrix. Each node is associated with a respective part of space volume in which the plurality of vehicles are gathering the meteorological information.

  • Patent number: 10460614
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for providing real-time assessment and analysis for reduced engine taxi operations (RETO) for an aircraft. The method includes retrieving time sensitive data, non-time sensitive data and ground operational data that all affect RETO of the aircraft. This data is collected with an RETO analyzer which applies a predetermined ruleset to determine a RETO recommendation for the aircraft. The recommendation is transmitted to a RETO support module which retrieves historical flight data and cost model and financial model data for the aircraft. The support module then generates and displays RETO alerts, implementation plans and map overlays for the aircraft.

  • Publication number: 20190266902
Abstract: Methods are provided for generating a grid map that shows aircraft traffic intensity. The method comprises collecting position data and an associated flight plan for each aircraft within a defined airspace volume. Next, each aircraft is modeled based on the latest observed position and the flight plan of the aircraft. The defined airspace volume is divided into a cubic grid pattern with defined spatial and time resolution periods. Each aircraft is assigned a cube within the grid based on the aircraft's modeled movement over future time periods. The number of assigned aircraft is calculated for each cube of the grid over future time periods. A ratio is calculated for the value of the number of assigned aircraft to a pre-determined capacity for each cube. Finally, the suitability of the defined airspace volume for planned aircraft traffic is determined based on the ratios for each cube within the defined airspace volume.
