  • Patent number: 7021104
Abstract: Device to absorb the axial loads generated on the rolls in a rolling stand (11) having a pair of working rolls (12a, 12b), a corresponding pair of back-up rolls (15a, 15b) and at least an intermediate roll (14) located between a working roll (12a) and a corresponding back-up roll (15a), in said device holding means (16, 40, 41) are provided to support the axial loads on the back-up rolls (15a, 15b) and/or the working rolls (12a, 12b) caused by the crossing of said at least one intermediate roll (14), so that the axial loads are discharged onto elements with very low rolling friction, totally or almost totally annulling the hysteresis relating to the vertical movements of the back-up rolls (15a, 15b) and working rolls (12a, 12b) and the relative chocks (26).

  • Patent number: 7021105
Abstract: A device to bend the rolls in a rolling stand, wherein each roll to be bent is rotatably mounted in two corresponding chocks each associated to two series of two double-effect actuators, for a total of four actuators for each chock. Each actuator is disposed on opposite sides of the corresponding chock with respect to the axis of rotation (Y) of the roll to be bent.

  • Patent number: 6976379
Abstract: A device to vary the positioning of a rolling roll for plane products, comprising a housing able to support the roll and the respective chocks thereof. On the crossing plane of the roll and at the two sides of every chock a drawing sector is provided for cooperating with drive means, and a transmitter element is present in an intermediate position to achieve an oscillating connection between the drawing sector and the drive means, which are associated with position transducer means and data processing means.

  • Patent number: 5823766
Abstract: A furnace installation as an intermediate storage between a mandrel-free coiling mechanism for strip-shaped cast billet, which is arranged downstream of a thin slab casting installation, and an uncoiling mechanism communicating with a downstream rolling mill, and a system for transporting the coiled bundles through the furnace installation. The furnace installation includes an integral coiling mechanism on the charging side. At least one transporting device for transporting the bundles is provided outside and below the furnace installation and is movable along the furnace installation. The transporting device penetrates into the furnace installation by lifting/lowering supports for the bundle to be transported. The uncoiling mechanism is likewise integrated in the furnace installation at a distance from the coiling mechanism which allows a plurality of bundles arranged adjacent to one another to be picked up. The uncoiling mechanism communicates with the coiling mechanism via the transporting device.

  • Patent number: 3940516
Abstract: An inorganic fireproof protective coating composition consisting of 5 to 15 percent by weight of a powdered silicate-oxide sinter or alloy, 15 to 35 percent by weight of an anhydrous powdered alumosilicate substance, and 50 to 80 percent of the acid phosphates of aluminum, chromium, magnesium or calcium, or mixtures thereof. All three ingredients of the coating form a suspensoid upon mixing and thereafter they are subjected to self-hardening at room temperature. The hardening process may be accelerated by heating up to 150.degree.C. The coating is designed for protection of products made of readily inflammable materials, particularly of wood and of wood-like materials, against destruction by fire or glow.
