  • Publication number: 20140246804
Abstract: A first portion of a midsole formed of a first material has a recess in a top surface thereof, and a first aperture positioned within the recess and extending therethrough. The first portion is placed in a recess in a bottom plate of a second mold assembly. A middle plate with a second aperture extending therethrough is placed in contact with the bottom plate. A second material is inserted through the second aperture such that it fills the recess and the first aperture in the first portion to form a second portion of the midsole. A top plate of the second mold assembly is positioned in contact with the middle plate so as to close the second mold assembly. The second mold assembly is subjected to heat and pressure such that the second portion cures and bonds to the first portion of the midsole.

  • Publication number: 20140129363
Abstract: In an online marketplace, merchants are rewarded when they contribute successful goods or services, or otherwise contribute to the overall value of the marketplace to purchasers and to the marketplace provider. In particular, a dynamic rating rule is provided that allows revenue sharing to vary dynamically depending on factors such as item price, item volume and transaction type. The dynamic rating rule applied to a transaction can include a primary rule and one or more secondary rules. For example, a primary rule can define a percentage share based on price of an item, and a secondary rule can define an additional percentage share based on total sales of that item for the merchant. Thus different rating rules can apply to different items at different price points and at different sales volumes. As a result, a merchant can receive a higher percentage share of revenue with items with higher prices or higher volumes.

  • Patent number: 8521823
Abstract: A method of presenting information to a party through a messaging application is described. Responsive to receipt of a communication from a party (e.g., the first user), a reply is sent. The communication and the reply is presented in an interface to the sender. The messaging system determines matching content that is relevant to one or both of the communication and the reply and determines a quality of the match. Determining the quality of the match may include determining a score for an advertisement based on the advertisement's responsiveness to content identified in the reply message that was sent. Based on a determination that the quality is above a threshold, the matching content is presented along with the communication and the reply.

  • Patent number: 8229731
Abstract: A phrase-based translation system and method includes a statistically integrated phrase lattice (SIPL) (H) which represents an entire translational model. An input (I) is translated by determining a best path through an entire lattice (S) by performing an efficient composition operation between the input and the SIPL. The efficient composition operation is performed by a multiple level search where each operand in the efficient composition operation represents a different search level.

  • Publication number: 20100131529
Abstract: Methods, computer program products, and systems related to providing gadgets that generate content based on entities extracted according to patterns defined by extractors are provided. A plurality of distinct extractors that define patterns for identifying entities in text are received from a plurality of users. The extractors are stored in a repository. The pattern defined by each of the extractors is processed into a pattern matching engine. The extractors are made available for subscription from a first user subscribing to a first extractor. A modification indication is received from a composition program regarding a first document of a first user, and in response to receiving the modification indication, the pattern matching engine corresponding to the first extractor is applied to the first document and identifies a first entity. The first entity is provided to a first software gadget that presents information relating to the first entity to the user.

  • Publication number: 20050119885
Abstract: In a speech recognition system, the combination of a log-linear model with a multitude of speech features is provided to recognize unknown speech utterances. The speech recognition system models the posterior probability of linguistic units relevant to speech recognition using a log-linear model. The posterior model captures the probability of the linguistic unit given the observed speech features and the parameters of the posterior model. The posterior model may be determined using the probability of the word sequence hypotheses given a multitude of speech features. Log-linear models are used with features derived from sparse or incomplete data. The speech features that are utilized may include asynchronous, overlapping, and statistically non-independent speech features. Not all features used in training need to appear in testing/recognition.
