  • Patent number: 5256396
Abstract: In accordance with the teachings of this invention, a composition and method for the topical application of a water dispersible active ingredient to a surface of a warm blooded animal is provided. Specifically, such composition is provided to have the properties of being readily flowable upon filling a container therewith, maintaining such flowable condition after storage for a substantial length of time and being readily flowable upon application to the desired animal situs. Uniquely, upon contact with the warm surface of the animal then, and only then, does the composition quickly forms into a non-flowable relatively substantive gel. Specifically such composition comprises:(a) a water soluble non-ionic block copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide of the formula HO(C.sub.2 H.sub.4 O).sub.a (C.sub.3 H.sub.6 O).sub.b (C.sub.2 G.sub.4 O).sub.c H;(b) the active ingredient to be topically delivered; and(c) water.

  • Patent number: 4647451
Abstract: Anhydrous dentifrice having desirable rheological, sensory and hygienic characteristics containing a polysaccharide gum and glycerine humectant. Ingredients at least partially incompatible when water is present, such as zeolite or molecular sieve, may be included. The polysaccharide is clarified or non-clarified deacetylated heteropolysaccharide S-60.

  • Patent number: 4590065
Abstract: A dentifrice composition that reduces the migration/absorption of flavor into plastic packaging materials, containing a flavor oil in combination with about 5.0%-50.0% and preferably 12.0% by weight of the total flavor oils of polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP), dispersed in a dental vehicle. The dentifrice composition may be in the form of a paste, cream or gel. It is essential that the flavor oil and PVP be premixed prior to its addition to the dentifrice composition, preferably as a final step in its formulation.

  • Patent number: 4401648
Abstract: Dental cream which readily disperses when agitated in the presence of water or saliva. The gel system of the dentifrice contains xanthan and an alginate in a weight ratio of about 3:1 to 1:3, preferably about 3:1 to 1:1. The dental cream also has desirable texture or "feel" in the mouth and undergoes slow drainage of liquid from foam produced during toothbrushing.
