  • Patent number: 11971051
Abstract: A gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a propulsor section including a propulsor that delivers flow to a core flowpath and a compressor section including first and second compressors. The core flowpath passes through the first compressor. The core flowpath in the first compressor has an outer diameter relative to the engine longitudinal axis. The outer diameter has a slope angle relative to the axis.

  • Patent number: 4419041
Abstract: A spacial mechanism includes an arm having first and second spaced support points. The first and second support points are supported by first and second swivel bearings. The first and second swivel bearings are supported by first and second rotary elements that cause the first and second support points to travel through first and second circular paths. First and second independently controllable motors cause the first and second rotary elements to rotate at selected rates in selected directions. One end of the arm is caused to trace any predetermined pattern in a limited region by appropriately controlling the rotation of the first and second rotary elements. Analogous optical and fluid devices are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4300846
Abstract: A high speed print head system includes a print head pivotally and resiliently coupled to a frame which is laterally movable on a carriage system. The print head includes an elongated nose piece having therein a plurality of print rods which can be controllably forced beyond the end of the nose piece to impact a ribbon and paper supported by a platen to produce dots on the paper. The pivotal and resilient coupling is achieved by means of a flexure having first and second opposed connection points connected to the frame and third and fourth opposed connection points connected to the print head. Two permanent magnets are rigidly attached to the frame substantially above the axis of the elongated nose piece and substantially symmetrically with respect to the elongated nose piece. A pair of electromagnets rigidly attached to the print head opposite the respective permanent magnets are controllably energized to produce continuously variable forces between the frame and the print head.

  • Patent number: 4272892
Abstract: A test probe positioning machine includes first and second stepper motors connected to spaced first and second vertical pivot pins extending from a support. A flat slide surface is disposed on the support adjacent and perpendicular to the vertical pivot pins. First and second elongated threaded shafts driven by the stepper motors engage first and second threaded nut blocks. The nut blocks are pivotally connected together by a vertical pivot pin and are supported upon a low friction foot element which slides along the slide surface. An insulating probe support is connected to one of the nut blocks and can be raised or lowered by a solenoid in response to a control signal received from a control system. The control system converts triangular coordinates to pulse signals which control the stepper motors to position the probe support.

  • Patent number: 4266936
Abstract: A portable braille display unit which presents an entire page of braille characters in response to data stored on a storage medium, such as a tape cassette. The display unit is the size of a conventional braille page, and the display unit may be made portable and self-powered. Each braille character is displayed by a braille cell display module in which spring actuated pins are controlled by bimetallic latches. Each module includes six pins which comprise the six dots of each braille cell. To display braille characters, an electrical current is applied to resistively heat selected ones of the bimetallic latches. In response to this current the selected bimetallic latches bend and disengage from the pin, allowing a compressed spring to move the pin upward through the surface plate to display a braille dot. The spring maintains the pin in this position without requiring power from the power supply.

  • Patent number: 4213495
Abstract: An improved method incorporating investment burn out at a predetermined ideal temperature. The investment encasing the wax-like model of the desired casting is placed in an oven preheated to an ideal burn out temperature. The oven is maintained at that temperature while the pressure in the oven is increased to a predetermined pressure and maintained at that pressure for a given time. Following that time, the pressure is cycled between the predetermined pressure and atmospheric pressure or below for a second predetermined time.

  • Patent number: 4199092
Abstract: A system for mounting a motor driving a motor capstan includes a single flexible metal sheet which includes four bends along four spaced parallel flexure lines. The four flexure lines divide the sheet into five sections, including first and second end sections, first and second leg sections adjacent to the first and second end sections, respectively, and a motor support section disposed between the first and second leg sections. The first and second end sections are attached to a rigid support surface. The first and second leg sections have flanges to provide structural strength. The first and second leg sections are oriented at downward angles from the rigidly mounted surface. The motor support section is approximately parallel to the rigid mounting surface and includes an opening therein for accommodating the motor.
