  • Patent number: 7636786
Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatus for facilitating access by a user to a resource of an on-line service via a data communications network, the resource being accessible via an entry page of the service. A method includes checking whether a user condition, prestored in the network, is satisfied, the user condition being associated with the user and relating to the resource. If the condition is not satisfied, the entry page is sent to the user via the network. If the condition is satisfied, the entry page is modified by adding an indication relating to the resource. The modified entry page in then sent to the user advantageously, the method also includes transmitting to the user a notification message in response to, and indicative of, the condition being satisfied.

  • Patent number: 6922778
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for transcoding a data message, comprising a plurality of data fields (f1-f10) and an authentication code (Sgn(h1-10)), to produce a transcoded message for transmission to a destination device (4). The transcoding methods can be applied to such a data message which is received from a source device (1) wherein said data fields (f1-f10) have been coded in accordance with a first coding system, whereby respective data field codes (h1-h10) are generated for said data fields (f1-f10) and a message code (h1-10) is derived from said data field codes (h1-h10), and wherein said message code (h1-10) has been coded in accordance with a second coding system to generate said authentication code (Sgn(h1-10)). For each data field (f1-f10) of the received data message it is decided whether to maintain, modify or omit that field. For a field to be maintained, that field is maintained in the transcoded message.

  • Patent number: 6763460
Abstract: A method of transmitting information data from a sender to a receiver via a transcoder is proposed. The information data comprises confidential information data which is encrypted and non-confidential information data. Security information and transcoding-type information is sent together with the partly encrypted information data to the transcoder which uses the security information and transcoding-type information during a transcoding step. The encrypted confidential information data is thereby transcoded without using its content while the non-confidential information data is transcoded, having access to its content.

  • Patent number: 6532368
Abstract: A device and method for advertising service offerings in a communications network. A service offering includes information about the device making the advertisement, including what functions the device may serve. The advertisement also includes information about other devices in the network, when that information is available. Each device in the network determines a time value, at the end of which the device will send an advertisement. Each device listens for advertisements from other devices up to the time previously determined. If a device receives an advertisement that contains information about itself then the device will determine a new time value, at the end of which the device will send an advertisement. If a device receives an advertisement that does not contain information about itself then the device will send its own advertisement.

  • Patent number: 6457030
Abstract: Systems, methods and computer program products are provided for modifying Web content files, such as HTML files, for display via pervasive computing devices that have smaller displays and various performance limitations compared with desktop computing devices. Upon receiving a request from a pervasive computing device for an HTML file, the HTML file is analyzed for a link to a content modification file that contains information about how to modify elements within the HTML file so as to render the HTML file displayable via the pervasive computing device.
