  • Patent number: 8242728
Abstract: One embodiment relates to modernizing a technical system, in particular a producing system with the aim of obtaining economic and technical advantages. The technical system comprises at least one drive mechanism provided with at least one drive motor powered by a power element, a torque controller controlling the power element and a speed controller prescribing the nominal value of the torque (Msoll) for the torque controller. When the determination of the nominal value of the torque (Msoll) for the torque controller by the speed controller is deactivated, a standard drive element is available. The drive element comprises at least one speed controller, a torque controller and a power element. The nominal value of the torque (Msoll) of the torque controller of the drive motor is determined by a speed controller of the standard drive element.

  • Patent number: 7805206
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for increasing the capacity of an installation used to carry out an industrial process in an economical and sustainable manner. Said method consists of the following steps: process variables relevant to the capacity of the installation are determined; said process variables are monitored during variable operating conditions of the installation; and a very small control reserve of the control loops of the installation is established on the basis of the monitored process variables.

  • Patent number: 7606629
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for determining the causes of failures in industrial processes, in particular continuous processes with continuous webs, e.g. paper, textiles, plastic or metal films. Equipment and machines for industrial processes, in particular processes with continuous webs are frequently very complex combinations of drive components and automation components. As a result process failures are very difficult to detect and evaluate, among other reasons because they generally manifest themselves at different points in the equipment or machine. The present invention provides a monitoring system the monitors and measures output signals throughout the industrial process to determine if any failures will or may occur and provide data analysis to determine what caused the failure be means of the online monitoring.

  • Publication number: 20070038504
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for determining the causes of malfunctions and performance limits in installations. It is difficult to determine the causes of disturbances and/or performance-limiting factors in complex installations. The inventive method allows malfunctions in an installation to be eliminated and/or the performance thereof to be increased in a lasting manner and with relatively little effort. Said method comprises the following steps: data is provided on causes of malfunctions and performance limits in a plurality of installations; a questionnaire regarding said causes is created from said data; replies relating to the questions of the questionnaire are solicited from employees working in the installation that is to be diagnosed; and the causes of malfunctions and performance limits of the installation that is to be diagnosed are determined by evaluating the replies supplied by the employees regarding the questions of the questionnaire.
