  • Publication number: 20150019098
Abstract: A signal generator for highlighting objects in road traffic, including a marker and a carrier material. The marker is arranged on the carrier material in such a manner that the marker covers one surface side of the carrier material and/or is added to a substance of the carrier material. The signal transmitter reflects incident electromagnetic radiation of at least one predeterminable wavelength band by the marker. A spectral width and a spectral position of the at least one predeterminable wavelength band are distinguished by a size and/or a size distribution and/or a shape of nanoparticles contained in the marker and/or by a surface nanostructuring of the marker. The spectral position of the at least one predeterminable wavelength band is located in an infrared spectral range. The invention further relates to a corresponding system, a corresponding method, the use of the signal generator, and the use of the system.

  • Publication number: 20140240502
Abstract: A device for assisting a driver driving a vehicle or for autonomously driving a vehicle includes several distance sensors (2, 4, 5) and camera sensors (1, 3), an evaluation unit, and a control unit. The distance sensors detect objects that are directly in front of and behind the vehicle. The camera sensors cover an area surrounding the vehicle. From the data of the distance and camera sensors, the evaluation unit determines a three-dimensional representation of the areas covered by the sensors. Taking the three dimensional representation into account, the control unit generates a piece of advice for the driver or intervenes in vehicle steering.

  • Publication number: 20140218481
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and to a device for determining whether a vehicle can pass through an object by means of a (spatially resolving) 3-D camera. At least one image of the surroundings of the vehicle is recorded by a 3-D camera. At least one trajectory is ascertained on which the vehicle is likely to move. From the image data of the 3-D camera it is determined whether an object located above the trajectory is recognized and whether said object has one or more connections to the ground. For a corresponding object the dimensions and shape of the area or space between said object and the roadway through which the vehicle is to pass according to the trajectory are determined from the image data. By comparing the dimensions and shape of the entry area or the space which can be passed through with the dimensions and shape of the vehicle, it is determined whether and how the vehicle can pass through the object, and further suitable actions can be taken.
