  • Patent number: 6335073
Abstract: In a thermal shield for components made of thermoplastics, for the automotive industry in particular, an aluminium layer 2 is connected with the component to be protected, which serves as a carrier 1 for the thermal shield H, by means of a thermoplastic coating 3 in the region of the heat source. It is recommended to dispose the thermal shield H not only in the immediate region of heat source 4, but also, on the component, in the area up to a lateral spacing B from the heat source that the aluminium layer 2 may dissipate heat outwardly, i.e. outwardly from the region of thermal shield 4 to a cooler region.

  • Patent number: 6305494
Abstract: A device for absorbing and/or damping sound waves has a system for damping and/or silencing sound waves provided with a thin vibratory layer (1) on the side facing the sound waves. In order to improve sound damping and silencing properties, even during a prolonged use with concomitant exposure to strong heat, the thin vibratory layer (1) is made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy and is 0.004 to 0.35 mm thick.

  • Patent number: 6202786
Abstract: In a so-called “hollow chamber absorber” comprising chamber-shaped intermediate cavities (7) between a supporting body (1), spacers (2) and a covering layer (5) acting as a covering unit (11), simultaneous deformation and connection of the covering layer (5) with the edge (4) of the supporting body (1) and the open front ends (3) of the spacers (2) of the preformed basic constructional unit (10) occur by using a stamp (8) whose front face (9) is configured according to the final state of the covering unit (11) on the basic constructional unit (10).

  • Patent number: 6186270
Abstract: A layered absorber for absorbing acoustical sound waves comprising a plurality of layers with at least one layer being spaced apart from another layer by spacers, and at least one layer having a thickness between 0.

  • Patent number: 6153286
Abstract: A sound-absorbing cellular component is produced in multiple-chamber array, using a grid of spaced elongate rods, and by engaging to the rods of said grid a foil of deformable sheet material which is then drawn by deformation through spaces between rods, to thereby define adjacent partition walls of adjacent chambers. Various embodiments are described, involving retention and/or removal of the rods, and/or involving application of one or more insulating or finishing materials continuously over outwardly facing bottoms of the chambers of the array.

  • Patent number: 5984043
Abstract: In a magnetizable flat damping component with an acoustic wave damping or suppressing layer (5) with an adhesive layer (2) bonded thereto for securing the damping component to other objects (6) and with magnetizable particles (3) in the damping component the magnetizable particles are integrated into the adhesive layer (2) using binding agents (4).
