  • Publication number: 20220166878
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for implementing mobile terminating call. According to an embodiment, a subscriber management node obtains, from a mobility management node, an indication that indicates whether a packet switching (PS) connection is currently active for a terminal device. The subscriber management node receives, from a server, a first query about whether a PS access domain is to be used for a terminating call to the terminal device. The subscriber management node sends a response to the server based on the obtained indication.

  • Publication number: 20220116753
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for facilitating roaming of terminal device. According to an embodiment, a session management node operable in a home network receives, from another session management node operable in a visiting network, a quality of service (QoS) policy per a roaming agreement between the visiting network and the home network during establishment of a protocol data unit (PDU) session for a terminal device. The session management node retrieves, from a subscriber management node, subscribed QoS parameters of the terminal device. The session management node obtains a result that is generated based on the QoS policy per the roaming agreement and the subscribed QoS parameters of the terminal device.

  • Patent number: 11271937
Abstract: The embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a PGW (108) for handling a UEs (101) access to an EPC service via a non-3GPP access network (103). During a request for connecting the UE (101) to the non-3GPP access network (103), the PGW (108) receives identity information which indicates an identity of an AAA node (710) from a non-3GPP access gateway (705). The PGW (108) selects the AAA node (710) which was indicated in the received identity information. The PGW (108) transmits, to the selected AAA node (710), a request message for the UE (101). The request message is a request for authorization of the UE (101) to access the EPC service via the non-3GPP access network (103).

  • Patent number: 11202249
Abstract: A method performed by an Access and mobility Management Function (AMF). The method includes receiving from a Session Management Function (SMF) a request to establish User Plane (UP) for a user equipment's (UE's) protocol data unit (PDU) session. The request includes information indicating an access type. The method also includes, in response to the request, performing the steps of: determining that the UE is in the idle state with respect to both a 3GPP access and a non-3GPP access and, as a result of determining that the UE is in the idle state with respect to both a 3GPP access and a non-3GPP access, the AMF initiates paging of the UE by the 3GPP access, the paging initiation comprising transmitting to a Radio Access Network, RAN, node a page request to page the UE.

  • Publication number: 20210368427
Abstract: A method to operate a Network Function, Repository Function, NRF, to manage NF profiles of Session Management Functions (SMFs) in a communication system is provided that is configured to communicate with other network functions of the communications system through a network interface. The NRF receives NF profiles for the SMFs, wherein at least some of the NF profiles each include both a SMF identifier and a service area information for a respective one of the SMFs. After receiving the NF profiles, the NRF stores the SMF identifiers and the service area information of the NF profiles in a repository in memory. The NRF may also receive a NF discovery request for discovering SMFs. After receiving the NF discovery request, the NRF may retrieve from the repository at least one of the NF profiles respectively for at least one SMF based on content of the NF discovery request. The NRF communicates a NF discovery response containing the SMF identifier and the service area information of the at least one SMF.
