  • Patent number: 10620927
Abstract: Deploying a software service. A defined software service offering is selected from a plurality of defined software service offerings. An instantiation order for deploying the selected defined software service offering on a corresponding computer system is generated. Each defined software service offering comprises a software service definition and at least one defined software policy. One selected from the group consisting of the software service definition, the software policy, and a combination thereof, provides a hardware configuration for the software service, a software configuration for the software service, and a managing policy for the software service. The instantiation order of the software service for execution on the computer system is created based on the hardware configuration, the software configuration and the managing policy.

  • Patent number: 8365182
Abstract: A method of autonomous provisioning of resources of a computer system, wherein: performance-critical workload of the computer system is monitored; workload suffering is detected based on comparing the performance-critical workload with defined values of performance-critical workload goals; types of missing resources are determined; additional resources available for activation are determined; the additional resources are activated, and a notification of the activation is generated for being sent to a system provider for automated billing of the added capacity, and a computer device, data processing program, computer program product, and computer data signal therefor.

  • Patent number: 7487506
Abstract: A computer program product stored on computer storage media includes instructions for managing a workload in a computing system. The product including instructions for collecting resource and state data for a plurality of service class periods, calculating a long term execution velocity, if sufficient data exists, then determining a goal velocity using the data, otherwise, selecting a default value for the goal velocity, associating the goal velocity with the respective service class period, repeating the calculating, determining, selecting and associating for each service class period in the plurality of service class periods, and adjust the resource access to each of the service class periods according to the associated goal velocities.

  • Publication number: 20080077932
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of workload management in a computer system (100), in which units of work (152) are organized into service classes (121), to which a certain amount of system resources (140) is provided, and in which a number of service class periods (122) is associated to each service class (121), characterized in that the workload behavior within at least one present service class period (122) is determined, and the number of available service class periods (122) is automatically adjusted based on the determined workload behaviour.
