  • Publication number: 20100289232
Abstract: A pneumatic tire having a belt structure includes: a first belt layer; a second belt layer in a radially inner position with respect to the first belt layer, a third belt layer in a radially inner position with respect to the first and second belt layers, each belt layer including a plurality of elongated reinforcing elements disposed at a first, second and third belt angle respectively. The first and second belt angles have an absolute value of 15 to 40 degrees; the second angle is of opposite sign with respect to the first belt angle; and the third belt angle has an absolute value of 40 to 90 degrees and is of opposite sign with respect to the second belt angle. The belt structure also includes a zero degree belt layer placed in a radially outer position with repeat to the first belt layer including elongated reinforcing elements arranged such as to form a belt angle which is substantially zero.

  • Publication number: 20090194215
Abstract: A tire includes a carcass structure including at least one carcass ply, the carcass structure including a crown portion and two axially opposite side portions terminating in beads for mounting the tire on a rim; a tread band; and a belt structure interposed between the carcass structure and the tread band. The bead includes a bead core. The bead core includes: at least one first elongated element including at least one metal wire, and at least one second elongated element including at least one carbon fiber. The bead core results in an increased bead, forcing an improved bead unseating resistance and a decreased weight.

  • Publication number: 20070193669
Abstract: Tyre for vehicle wheels having a carcass structure shaped in a substantially toroidal configuration, the opposite lateral edges of which are associated with respective right-hand and left-hand bead wires to form respective beads; a belt structure applied in a radially external position with respect to the carcass structure; a tread band radially superimposed on the belt structure; at least one layer of crosslinked elastomeric material applied in a radially internal position with respect to the tread band; a pair of sidewalls applied laterally on opposite sides with respect to the carcass structure, wherein the at least one layer of crosslinked elastomeric material has a dynamic elastic modulus, measured at 70° C., not lower than 20 MPa, preferably 25 MPa to 50 MPa; a ratio between tensile modulus at 100% elongation and tensile modulus at 10% elongation not lower than 1.5, preferably 2 to 5.

  • Publication number: 20070175561
Abstract: A pneumatic tyre includes a pair of axially-spaced-apart annular reinforcing elements and bead fillers, a carcass structure, at least one flipper, a tread band, a belt structure, and at least one pair of sidewalls. The carcass structure includes at least one carcass ply, extends between the annular reinforcing elements, and is secured at axially opposite end portions to respective annular reinforcing elements. Each end portion is turned up around the respective annular reinforcing element. Each bead filler is disposed radially outward of the respective annular reinforcing element. The at least one flipper at least partially envelops an associated annular reinforcing element and bead filler and includes a plurality of first elongated reinforcing elements that are substantially parallel to each other. The first elongated reinforcing elements include at least one preformed metallic element having a diameter greater than or equal to 0.05 mm and less than or equal to 0.25 mm.

  • Publication number: 20060237113
Abstract: A tyre includes a carcass, a belt structure, and a tread band. The belt structure includes at least two belt plies and at least one belt layer radially external to the belt plies. The at least one belt layer extends at least for an axial width of the at least two belt plies and includes at least one first elongated element and at least one second elongated element. The elongated elements form turns substantially oriented in a circumferential direction of the tyre. The turns are alternately disposed along an axial development of the at least one belt layer. The at least one first elongated element is a hybrid cord including at least one high-elastic-modulus filament and at least one low-elastic-modulus filament that are twisted together. An elastic modulus of the at least one second elongated element is lower than an elastic modulus of the at least one first elongated element.
