  • Patent number: 6759444
Abstract: It has been found that non-chlorinated pentafluorobutane blowing agents may be used alone or in combination with water in flexible integral skin foams. For example, foams prepared using 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluorobutane (HFC 365mfc) alone or in combination with water or other non-cholorinated hydrocarbons such as heptafluoropropane exhibit improved physical characteristics, such as resistance to abrasion and cracking, on flex comparable to conventional chlorinated fluorocarbon blown foam.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 23, 2002
Date of Patent: July 6, 2004
    Assignee: Dow Global Technologies Inc.
Inventors: Andrea Brandoli, Alberto Micagni, Giuliano Guidetti, Stefano Mussini

  • Patent number: 5510054
Abstract: Disclosed is a polyurethane elastomer having a density of from about 100 to about 1100 kg/m.sup.3, and an abrasion loss of less than about 300 mg, as determined in accordance with Test Method A of ISO 4649. Such elastomer can be prepared by reacting a urethane-modified polyisocyanate with at least one polyol in the presence of from about 0.1 to about 10 parts per 100 parts by weight of polyol' of a liquid polybutadiene comprising 1,2-butene, 2,3-(trans)butene and 2,3-(cis)butene moieties, wherein the 1,2-butene content is less than about 50 percent, based on total butene content, and the 2,3 (cis)-butene content is greater than the 2,3-(trans)butene content.

  • Patent number: 5246977
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for preparing microcellular polyurethane polymers by reaction of an organic polyisocyanate composition comprising a 4,4'-methylene diphenylisocyanate, isocyanate-terminated poly(oxytetramethylene) glycol prepolymer with an active hydrogen-containing composition which comprises a polyether polyol and a chain-extending agent, in the presence of a blowing agent comprising water. Resulting polymers display good physical properties including abrasion resistance and durability and are of value in shoe soles applications and automotive applications.
