  • Patent number: 5209347
Abstract: A W-shaped frangible seal line separating at least two chambers in a container or securing together two sheets of material. Outer legs of the W-shape preferably describe an angle of 170.degree. or less. Inner legs of the W-shape preferably describe an upside down chevron or V-shape that describes an acute angle.

    Assignee: Clintec Nutrition Company
Inventors: Eugene Fabisiewicz, Jack Fagan, Steffen A. Lyons
  • Patent number: 4964944
Abstract: An apparatus for sealing and severing a web of film. The apparatus includes a first jaw located on one side of the web of film and a second jaw located on a second side of the web of film. The first and second jaws cooperate to grip the web of film. Located within the first jaw is a heater member for sealing and severing the web of film. The heater member is secured so that the time and/or pressure at which the heater member engages the web of film may be varied independent of the first jaw.

  • Patent number: 4761197
Abstract: An apparatus for sealing a web of film including a heater member for melting a portion of the film to create side and chevron seals. A back-up bar is located diametric the heater member. The heater member includes two elongated heater bars and two wing heater bars.

  • Patent number: 4458733
Abstract: Apparatus for selectively mixing two components such as a powder and a liquid in a quick and efficient manner. The apparatus includes a compressible chamber with a liquid component therein, the compressible chamber including gas-trapping and reservoir compartments in open communication. Included is an arrangement to access the gas-trapping compartment such that the chamber may be connected to a container having a mixing component such as a powder therein so as to form a selectively opened pathway between the container and the compressible chamber of the apparatus. The apparatus may include the container. After the pathway is opened, the gas-trapping and reservoir compartments are selectively positioned to facilitate proper mixing of the liquid component in the chamber with the component in the container.

  • Patent number: 4410321
Abstract: A closed system for separately storing and selectively mixing two components, such as a drug and a diluent, under sterile conditions. The closed system can incorporate a drug vial of standard construction. A unique junction of the closed system permits a drug vial with a drug therein to be connected in a sterile manner with a compressible chamber having a diluent therein, after the drug and diluent have been separately sterilized. The junction encloses the end portions of access means to each of the receptacles, maintaining the end portions in sterile, spaced relation and providing for the selective establishment of a sterile pathway between the drug and diluent for mixing in a closed environment. The compressible chamber is of a unique design including gas-trapping and reservoir compartments in open communication. The compressible chamber is utilized with the junction to provide an efficient, sterile storage and mixing system.

  • Patent number: 4368023
Abstract: A method of making a curved-tip (coude) catheter which comprises: inserting an end of a flexible, thermoplastic tube into the bore of a closed-end, hollow, tubular die which defines the desired curve of the curved-tip catheter. The tubular die is heated to a temperature above the plastic melt temperature of the thermoplastic tube, while advancing the tube into the die, to cause at least about 0.5 cm. of the tube end to collapse into a generally solid, curved mass. The die and tube contained therein are then cooled to a temperature below the plastic melt temperature, and the tube is withdrawn having a closed, formed coude tip.

  • Patent number: 4292270
Abstract: A method of making a elbowed end (coude) catheter which comprises: inserting an end of a flexible, thermoplastic tube into the bore of a closed-end, hollow, tubular die which defines the desired curve of the elbowed end catheter.
