  • Patent number: 6032340
Abstract: A method for pretreating a staple-fiber carpet yarn (5) before it is processed to make a carpet, in order to reduce the hairiness and fuzz accumulation associated with such yarns. The surface of the carpet yarn (5) is exposed for a brief time to the action of a temperature which is very high relative to the characteristic temperatures of the carpet yarn material. This can be carried out in a singe burner (100) through which the carpet-yarn threads (5) are guided in their lengthwise direction.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 15, 1999
Date of Patent: March 7, 2000
    Assignee: Kusters Zittauer Maschinenfabrik GmbH
Inventors: Steffen Greif, Heinz Gruber, Peter Pfeiffer, Arne Wussing, Ingo Lison
  • Patent number: 5954879
Abstract: An application device having a trough tapering downward in a wedge shape, through which a web is guided vertically from top to bottom, and which is sealed at the lower end by means of a horizontal hose. The hose abuts against the web from one side, while the web slips along on the opposite side at the lower end of the side surface of the trough. The side surface is formed on a counter-bearer, which is concave at its lower side, so that a deflection roller arranged beneath it can be set as high as possible, and the free web section from the hose gap to the contact point on the deflection roller is as short as possible.

  • Patent number: 5819382
Abstract: A width stretching unit for textile webs includes a first needle disc unit having first and second needle discs disposed along a first axis at a distance corresponding to the width of the web of material and a second needle disc unit having a second axis which is situated in the pivoting plane parallel to the first axis, and having third and forth needle discs arranged perpendicular to the second axis that rotate about the second axis with the same peripheral speed as the first and second needle discs. The axial distance between the third and fourth needle discs is equal to the axial distance between the first and second needle discs in a zone of increased distance between the first and second needle discs.
