  • Publication number: 20100094544
Abstract: A navigation device is provided, which includes a storage unit for storing information about traffic restrictions for vehicles and for storing digital map data, and an output unit for a graphic display of a region such that subregions for which information about traffic restrictions for vehicles is stored are graphically labeled.

  • Publication number: 20090192703
Abstract: A method for defining a geographic area in a map detail for use in a navigation device includes: selecting an area shape; positioning the selected area shape on the map detail at a desired position; and performing a function of the navigation device as a function of a geographic area specified by the area shape positioned on the map detail.

  • Patent number: 7528740
Abstract: A method for providing information for the driver of a vehicle for parallel parking of the vehicle includes sending the driver information about the length (size) of the parking spot in relation to the length (size) of the vehicle. After detection of the first obstacle (or end point) delimiting the length of the parking spot, the vehicle and its position are displayed in relation to the parking spot or the already detected part of the parking spot, on a display unit assigned to the driver. The ratio of the vehicle length to the length of the parking spot or the detected part of the parking spot corresponds to the ratio of the displayed vehicle length to the length of the displayed parking spot or the displayed part of the parking spot.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 6873906
Abstract: A method of inputting a navigation destination into a navigation device, where a place name of the navigation destination is entered, where in the event that there are, in a navigation database, a plurality of navigation destinations having the same place name, supplemental information is output for the plurality of navigation destinations, allowing differentiation of the navigation destinations in each case. With this method, the supplemental information includes information about the direction and/or distance from a nearby or nearest prominent point. A navigation database for performing the method, in which position coordinates, in particular central point position coordinates, are stored for each stored navigation destination and for each of the prominent points which may be output as part of the supplemental information. This facilitates resolution of ambiguity when entering navigation destinations which is improved for the user, because it may be more easily understood.
