  • Publication number: 20080312060
Abstract: A screw-type solid-bowl centrifuge including a rotatable drum having a tapering portion and a cylindrical portion. The rotatable screw includes a screw body, at least one main screw blade surrounding the screw body and forming a plurality of screw flights. The plurality of screw flights forms a conveying path configured to transport a material to be processed in the centrifuge. Two blade segments are arranged in the conveying path in portions of the plurality of screw flights. The at least one main screw blade is provided in a region of the blade segments that includes clearances configured to allow a throughflow of the material to be processed to flow between adjacent screw flights.

  • Publication number: 20060019008
Abstract: A process of reducing the cholesterol content in cholesterol-containing organic oils or fats, particularly animal oils or fats. The process comprises the steps of: adding at least one of demineralized water and distilled water having a set pH-value to the oil cholesterol containing oils or fats, thereby forming a mixture; and separating the mixture into a cholesterol-containing aqueous phase and a cholesterol-reduced oil or fat phase.

  • Patent number: 6908423
Abstract: A screw for a solid-bowl screw-type centrifuge, comprising: a screw body having a circumference, a cylindrical section and a conical section; at least one screw blade surrounding the screw body several times and forming several screw spirals; a delivery path for conveying material to be centrifuged formed between the screw spirals; blade segments arranged in the delivery path between adjacent screw spirals only in a portion of the cylindrical section; and recesses in the at least one screw blade, the recesses constructed only in a portion of the cylindrical section and constructed such that the material to be centrifuged can flow through between adjacent screw spirals. A method for extracting oil in a two- and three-phase separation process using the screw of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20030129042
Abstract: The invention relates to a screw for a screw-type solid bowl centrifuge that is characterized in that additional leaf segments (29) are disposed in some sections of the conveyor path (7) between adjacent spirals (x, x+1,). The screw leaf (5), in the area of the screw leaf segments (29), is preferably provided with recesses (27) that are adapted to allow the material to be extracted (S) to pass between adjacent spirals (x, x+1,). The screw according to the invention is especially suitable for use in a method for producing oil from fruit and seeds and for better dehydrating and/or deoiling mashes of organic materials (for example mashed seeds, fruit pulp, animal tissues such as fish, egg, fatty tissue cells).
