  • Patent number: 9016472
Abstract: A needle magazine (10, 110) for storing a plurality of pen needle assemblies in combination with a plurality of pen needle units is disclosed. The magazines each comprise a first part (11, 111) and a second part (12, 112), each holding a number of pen needle assemblies. The first part (11, 111) and the second part (12, 112) are hinged together by a hinge mechanism (13, 113) such that the pen needle magazine (10, 110) can be folded to be easily carried by a user. The needle magazine (10, 110) also comprises an irreversible locking mechanism (30, 31, 130) such that the needle magazine (10, 110) can be used as a waste bin when discarding the used pen needle assemblies.

  • Publication number: 20130303999
Abstract: A metallic cylindrical tubular needle cannula (1) is subjected to a metal etching liquid inside the lumen (7) thereby increasing the inside diameter and enhancing the flow properties while maintaining the outside appearance. The inside wall (5) is further provided with a collapse zone (10) manufactured by radiating heat (11) to a specific outside area of the needle cannula (1) thereby increasing the aggression of the etchant. Further two different methods of in- process testing of the inside diameter of the needle cannulae using any fluid gas are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7397730
Abstract: The invention relates to a timer device capable of performing one or more control actions in response to the time lapsed since a user initiated action took place. The timer device comprises contact means operatable between two conditions, timer means, and means for storing first and second time stamps. The device further comprises control means for setting a first time stamp in response to the contact means being operated between first and second conditions, setting a second time stamp in response to the contact means being operated between the second and first conditions, calculating the time elapsed between the two time stamps, comparing the elapsed time with a preset time value, and performing a control action if the elapsed time is greater than the preset time value.

  • Publication number: 20070293742
Abstract: This invention relates to an system for self treatment. The system consists of several portable modules where one of the modules is designated as a master module. The master module controls, supervises and monitors all the mutual information and data exchange between itself and the rest of the modules. The modules can e.g. consist of a BGM, a doser and a storage container. The modules may be able to generate and store data which is transmitted to the master module if it is within range. If the master module is not within range, the data is kept locally in the module until the master module is available. The master module can send the data to an external unit like a computer or database for further processing. A physician or an expert care-team can access the data in the database and give guidance to the patient on the basis of these processed data. This processing could also be done automatically by utilization of an expert system.

  • Publication number: 20070244412
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for self-treatment of diabetes. The apparatus is particularly advantageous by comprising a plurality of devices each of which has its own dedicated function corresponding to a number of acts which a diabetic must perform on himself. The individual devices are mutually interconnectible, and the combination comprises at least a body fluid analyser and a dosing apparatus for administering a predetermined dose of insulin to the patient. Each of the devices may be provided in several sizes so that the user himself may combine the relevant devices of the relevant size with respect to the current need. This reduces the risk of forgetting parts of the equipment, and the confidence of using the equipment is enhanced because it is evident to the user that it is a complete apparatus consisting of unified parts.

  • Patent number: 5971966
Abstract: A magazine for storing and final disposal of a snap-on needle unit has a compartment having a bottom, a cylindrical side wall, and an access opening, which compartment accommodates the needle unit with a gap between the outer side wall of this needle unit and the inner side wall of the compartment. A circle of tongue-shaped protrusions are at one end thereof hinged at the inner surface of the side wall of the compartment and are at their other ends free. The length of the protrusions exceeds the width of the gap so that the protrusions are deflected to assume an oblique position with their free ends pointing towards the access opening of the compartment when the unused needle is stored in the magazine and pointing towards the bottom of the compartment when the needle unit is reinserted into the magazine.
