  • Publication number: 20190057764
Abstract: A method of recording a medicament dose using a data collection device comprises capturing, by a video camera of said data collection device, a video showing a medicament dose indicator of a medicament delivery device, adjusting a scale of an image of said medicament dose indicator in said video, adjusting said image for skew of one or more characters displayed on a component of the medicament delivery device in said video, determining the position of at least one of said one or more characters in the image, identifying the at least one character using optical character recognition and determining a medicament dose shown by the medicament dose indicator based on a result of said optical character recognition. The method may include determining whether more than one delivery of medicament is recorded in the video and, if so, whether said more than one delivery includes one or more prime shots, so that an overall dosage delivered to a user may be determined based on multiple determined medicament doses.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a pen-type drug injection device, comprising a dose scale drum (22) and having a housing (12) with a window (14) covered by an optical filter (50), the dose scale drum being displaceable axially relative to the housing during dose setting such that the dose value set can be read through the window while at least a portion of the dose scale drum protrudes from the housing. The dose values (42) are printed on an information surface (40) of the drum as an illegible pattern (48) together with a coding pattern (44), wherein the dose values (42) and the coding pattern (44) are designed such that light (52) reflected by or emanating from the illegible pattern (48) interacts with the optical filter (50) in such a way that the dose values (42) are exclusively recognizable through the optical filter (50) but not on the part of the dose scale drum protruding from the housing. The optical filter can be a color filter or a polarization filter in order to achieve the desired effect.

  • Publication number: 20170316178
Abstract: A data collection device is configured to capture images of a dosage indicator of a medicament delivery device and, if an injection is administered without prior confirmation of a dosage amount, to prompt the user to set a value for the delivered medicament dosage amount for storing in a dosage log. For example, the determination may be based on specific confirmation from the user or detecting a zero dosage amount in captured images. A suggested dosage amount may be displayed to the user, for example a highest or more recently programmed dosage amount prior to the injection or based on one or more previously confirmed dosage amounts. The data collection device may use one or more of optical character recognition, optical pattern recognition and determination of direction of rotation of a dosage adjustment component to determine whether an injection is being, or has been, administered and/or a suggested dosage amount.
