  • Patent number: 7231198
Abstract: A computing device such as a notebook computer comprises a processor and one or more power sources. A plurality of operational states are defined, each with a set of device operation choices for settings (such as power management or configuration) appropriate to that operational state. The processor is adapted to determine a present operational state. The present operational state is not defined solely by the active power source—it may be defined in part by the location of the mobile computing device, its network status, the active power source, the state of battery charge, or by a model of user behavior. The processor is further adapted to implement the device operation choices for the present operational state.

  • Patent number: 7185211
Abstract: Power consumption of software applications on a computing device is managed in accordance with a plurality of defined power management states. User selectable features for one or more software applications are identified, and choices for these user selectable features defined for each power management state. When the active power management state changes, the choice of each user selectable feature for that power management state is then imposed on the relevant software applications on the computing device.

  • Publication number: 20060091199
Abstract: In a method of an embodiment of the invention, a solid freeform fabrication (SFF) system receives a unique material identifier from a material container. In response to determining that a material associated with the unique material identifier is known to the SFF system, the SFF retrieves information regarding the material from over a network, based on the unique material identifier with which the material is associated.
