  • Patent number: 9170081
Abstract: There is provided an all-electric powered ANFO vehicle. The all-electric powered ANFO vehicle includes a support structure. This support structure includes a first and second section and a steering section. The support structure also includes a lift apparatus configured to deliver explosives to a mine face in a mine tunnel. A self-contained battery module is removably mounted on the support structure. A pair of wheel sets is coupled to the support structure, with each wheel set including two wheels. One wheel of each wheel set is rotably coupled on each side of the support structure. A motor is mounted on the support structure and is coupled to at least one wheel and the battery module. A motor controller, including a DC/AC inverter is coupled to the motor and the battery module.

  • Publication number: 20120217074
Abstract: There is provided an all-electric powered vehicle. The all-electric powered vehicle includes a support structure. This support structure defines a portion configured as a tool platform configured to support a tool module. The self-contained battery module is removably mounted on the support structure. A pair of wheel sets is coupled to the support structure, with each wheel set including two wheels. One wheel of each wheel set is rotably coupled on each side of the support structure. An AC induction motor is mounted on the support structure and is coupled to at least one wheel and the battery module. A motor controller, including a DC/AC inverter is coupled to the AC induction motor and the battery module.

  • Patent number: 7303238
Abstract: A mine scaling vehicle for use in removing loose materials from the roof and walls of underground mines includes an articulated frame with a turntable mounted on a forward portion of the frame and a drive system mounted on the back portion of the frame. The turntable rotatably supports an operators cab and a boom carrying a scaling pick, with the operators cab being located centered rearwardly of the boom to provide improved scaling visability for the operator. The drive system and a hydraulic control system of the mine scaling vehicle are mounted on the frame located below a plane of the turntable to provide a low center of gravity of the mine scaling vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20060273756
Abstract: An opportunity charging system for a battery-powered, mobile mining machine employs inductive power transfer for transferring battery charging current produced by a rapid charging station to the battery of the machine. An alignment module of the charging station automatically aligns primary coils of the charging station with pick-up coils carried by the machine in response to detection of the presence of the machine at the charging station. The charging station is located along roadways of the mine normally traveled by production equipment.

  • Patent number: 7053568
Abstract: A battery-powered vehicle for transporting a mined payload or supplies over the roadways existing in or around an underground mine, includes variable voltage, variable frequency drivers that convert DC voltage from a battery into an AC voltage for driving AC induction motors of a front wheel drive system of the vehicle, and a further variable frequency driver that converts DC voltage from the battery into an AC voltage for driving an AC pump motor for supplying hydraulic fluid to hydraulically operated components of the vehicle. A controller controls the operation of the variable voltage variable frequency drivers in response to commands supplied to the controller by an operator of the vehicle.
