Publication number: 20240071593Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that provide smart alerts to users, e.g., alerts to users about diabetic states that are only provided when it makes sense to do so, e.g., when the system can predict or estimate that the user is not already cognitively aware of their current condition, e.g., particularly where the current condition is a diabetic state warranting attention. In this way, the alert or alarm is personalized and made particularly effective for that user. Such systems and methods still alert the user when action is necessary, e.g., a bolus or temporary basal rate change, or provide a response to a missed bolus or a need for correction, but do not alert when action is unnecessary, e.g., if the user is already estimated or predicted to be cognitively aware of the diabetic state warranting attention, or if corrective action was already taken.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2023Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Anna Leigh DAVIS, Scott M. Publication number: 20190266869Abstract: Image-based fire detection methods are provided which include analyzing a field of view based on a plurality of images, determining if changes occur, and analyzing whether any such changes are due to smoke-like material. Changes due to large objects are ruled out, and drift in the scene or shaking of the image collection device is accounted for by the method. The methods employ representing images of the field of view with quantifiable values and comparing to thresholds established for each event, and activating an alarm if changes due to smoke-like material are detected. The fire detection methods may also include monitoring a field of view for changes, and only performing the analysis on the images if changes are detected. The monitoring and validating stages of the methods include collecting images at different sampling rates for different amounts of information.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 14, 2019Publication date: August 29, 2019Applicant: Smoke Detective, LLCInventors: Russell P. Mills, Gustavo K. Rohde, Frederick Lanni, Stephen C. Davis

Patent number: 10395498Abstract: A fire detection device is provided that has a camera that captures a reference image and a measured image. A processor compares intensity of the measured image to intensity of the reference image and uses this comparison to determine if an alarm is generated to indicate the presence of fire. The intensity of the measured image may be the total number of photons of the measured image, and the intensity of the reference image may be the total number of photons of the reference image. In other arrangements, the intensity may be measured between individual corresponding pixels of the reference and measured images.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2015Date of Patent: August 27, 2019Assignee: Smoke Detective, LLCInventors: Russell P Mills, Gustavo K Rohde, Frederick Lanni, Stephen C Davis, Jr.

Publication number: 20170322197Abstract: A health monitoring toilet system collects urine in a toilet system which may resemble a traditional water toilet. The toilet system may include a urine capture basin for collecting urine as a user urinates as with a traditional toilet. The urine capture basin may include a urine entry aperture which is an orifice leading into a urine sample cell. A fiber optic spectrometer may analyze the urine in the urine sample cell to collect relevant health data. The system may include a controller which may store and analyze spectral data and compile longitudinal data over time. The system may be in connection with other such systems to compare the analysis of a user's urine with those of other users stored in other such health monitoring toilet systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2017Publication date: November 9, 2017Inventors: David R. Hall, Joshua Larsen, Jared Reynolds, Stephen C. Davis, Joe Fox
