Patent number: 9979991Abstract: There is described a method for generating a frame label for a media frame sampled at a media frame rate at a given time-of-day relative to a day-zero reference. The method comprises: obtaining a calendar day at which the media frame is sampled, the calendar day having a day origin; computing a day-origin phase offset at the day origin based on the day-zero reference and on the calendar day; subtracting the day-origin phase offset from the given time-of-day to get a media frame relative offset which is relative to a first frame of the calendar day; computing the frame label from the media frame relative offset and from the media frame rate; and assigning the frame label to the media frame for time-positioning the media frame with respect to other media frames and with respect to a timescale.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2015Date of Patent: May 22, 2018Inventor: Stephen C. Scott

Publication number: 20030015416Abstract: A control unit for an apparatus for removal of electrostatic charge and electricity from fluids, including a probe apparatus for extending into the contained fluids, a control unit, circuitry interconnecting between the grounding apparatus and the control unit, control unit providing for monitoring the conductivity or mineral content of the fluid stream, while the grounding apparatus removes the mineral salts and trace minerals and other electrolytic charge from the fluids, while additional circuitry within the control unit reduces the fouling of a re-circulating fluid stream normally caused by the growth of various kinds of algae, molds or bacteria.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2002Publication date: January 23, 2003Inventors: Robert F. Meeeh, Stephen C. Scott

Patent number: 5823616Abstract: A free-standing restaurant booth including a pair of spaced apart opposing benches for providing seating to patrons of a restaurant. Each of the benches has a pedestal for placement on a floor of the restaurant, a seat mounted on the pedestal and a back extending up from the seat. The booth further includes a table support spaced above the floor. The support includes a base extending between and connecting the pedestals of the pair of opposing benches and a horizontal frame connected to the base. In addition, the booth includes a table top pivotally mounted on the support frame for movement between a substantially level position in which the top is supported by the frame for setting articles thereon and a tilted position for permitting access to the seats and the floor under the table top.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1997Date of Patent: October 20, 1998Assignee: Vitro Products, Inc.Inventor: Stephen C. Scott

Patent number: 4870829Abstract: Biological freezing apparatus for use on unmodified laboratory liquid cryogen storage container including a specimen holder for holding biological specimens to be frozen and a motor for lowering the specimen holder into the interior of the laboratory liquid cryogen storage containers. An electronic circuit controls the motor so that the specimen holder moves into the interior of the laboratory liquid cryogen storage container at a predetermined desired rate. The specimen holder is constructed of a non-thermally conductive material and this plus its configuration along with the movement of the specimen holder downward at a predetermined rate allows freezing of live biological specimens without doing substantial damage to the specimens.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1988Date of Patent: October 3, 1989Inventors: Lucille A. Oullette, Stephen C. Scott

Patent number: 4868767Abstract: Apparatus and method are disclosed for detecting the presence of a analyte in a sample. The apparatus includes an optical transmitter and receiver for transmitting light toward the sample and receiving a portion of the reflected light. The optical receiver acts in conjunction with a data processor to convert the reflected light to data representing the density of analyte in the sample. The apparatus thus disclosed is portable and can be transported to remote testing sites.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1987Date of Patent: September 19, 1989Assignee: Cerex CorporationInventors: Arthur E. Colvin, Jr., Stephen C. Scott

Patent number: 4816269Abstract: An apparatus for and process of pasteurizing or sterilizing and subsequent cooling of edible foodstuffs in containers. The containers are relatively thin-walled and are fabricated from plastic. At least one of the containers is provided with an internal probe which monitors the pressure and temperature at its substantially geometric center. The pressure within a chamber of the apparatus, within which pasteurization or sterilization is to be effected, is also monitored. A comparator compares the pressures within the chamber and the container having the probe therein to develop a control signal representative of the pressure difference. A controller is arranged to respond to the control signal to maintain a predetermined pressure relationship while heating and subsequently cooling the foodstuffs. The pressure difference which is maintained may be zero, or be slightly above or below zero.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1987Date of Patent: March 28, 1989Assignee: Steeltin Can CorporationInventors: Edmund A. Nelson, Arthur E. Colvin, Matthew W. Hanley, Stephen C. Scott

Patent number: 4788871Abstract: A probe suitable for monitoring temperature and pressure in a relatively thin-walled container fabricated from plastic. The internal probe monitors the pressure and temperature at substantially the geometric center of a container in a pasteurizing or sterilizing apparatus. The probe is provided with a sharp container-wall piercing end and a tapered threaded self tapping portion which provides an effective seal. The probe is hollow so that fluid can be conducted from the interior of the container and its pressure determined. A temperature sensing member is carried within the hollow probe so that temperature within the container may be sensed.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1987Date of Patent: December 6, 1988Assignee: Steeltin Can CorporationInventors: Edmund A. Nelson, Arthur E. Colvin, Matthew W. Hanley, Stephen C. Scott
