  • Publication number: 20050096054
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing data blocks during soft handover. The apparatus may be a wireless communication system including at least two enhanced uplink soft handover (EU-SHO) Node-Bs and a radio network controller (RNC). Each Node-B decodes a received data block and forwards the decoded data block to the RNC. If the RNC receives at least one copy of a successfully decoded data block, the RNC uses a re-ordering function entity to process the copy of the successfully decoded data block to support in-sequence delivery to higher protocol layers. If the RNC receives more than one copy of a successfully decoded data block, the RNC discards the extra successfully decoded data block copies. The RNC is either a serving-RNC (S-RNC) or a controlling-RNC (C-RNC). Each Node-B includes a medium access control (MAC) entity that handles enhanced uplink dedicated channel (EU-DCH) functionalities.

  • Publication number: 20050094586
Abstract: A wireless communication method and system for supporting an enhanced uplink dedicated channel (EU-DCH) inter-Node-B serving cell change. The system includes at least one wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) for transmitting data blocks, a target Node-B, a source Node-B and a serving radio network controller (S-RNC). The S-RNC includes a re-ordering buffer which stores data blocks correctly received from the WTRU. The S-RNC informs the target Node-B of a need for an EU-DCH inter-Node-B serving cell change from the source Node-B to the target Node-B. A medium access control (MAC) entity that handles EU-DCH functionalities is set up in the target Node-B. Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) processes and transmission sequence numbers (TSNs) are not reset at the WTRU. Using a new data indicator, the WTRU transmits a data block to the target Node-B that was previously transmitted to the source Node-B, but was not correctly received by the source Node-B.

  • Publication number: 20050083897
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and system for enabling efficient reduction of TFCs in the TFCS to achieve desired transmission, while remaining within desired power and data requirements. Upon the UE transmission power requirement exceeding the maximum or allowable transmission power the MAC shall be informed for subsequent TFC selection of all TFCs that currently exceed this limit. The UE will then chose the TFC with the next lower transmission power requirement and the sequence will continue until an acceptable TFC is determined. The present invention also enables the replacement of the TFCs in the TFCS and advanced determination of non-supported TFCs. The TFCs that require transmission power greater then the maximum or allowed UE transmission power shall be determined continuously in every TTI, not just in TTIs where the maximum power has been exceeded.

  • Publication number: 20050075086
Abstract: An interference signal code power (ISCP) measurement is estimated for a receiver. Signals transmitted in a particular time slot are received and a gain of the received signals is controlled using an automatic gain control (AGC) device. An ISCP value corresponding to the gain value from a table is determined.

  • Publication number: 20050058062
Abstract: A wireless local area network (WLAN) includes a station, an access point (AP), and a network management entity (NME). A method for remote radio resource management in the WLAN begins by configuring a trigger condition at the AP. A determination is made whether the trigger condition has been met, and a notification message is sent from the AP to the NME if the trigger condition has been met.

  • Publication number: 20050059422
Abstract: A method and wireless communication system for requesting and obtaining transmit power control (TPC) information. The system includes at least one access point (AP) and at least one wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). When the AP decides to adapt the transmit power level of the WTRU, the AP transmits a TPC request frame to the WTRU. In response to receiving the TPC request frame, the WTRU performs one or more physical measurements and sends a TPC report frame back to the AP.

  • Publication number: 20050053043
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for providing assistance data to wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs). The assistance data includes information regarding the access point's neighboring access points. The assistance data is transmitted to WTRUs using multicast and/or broadcast type signaling and facilitates ring and handover of WTRUs from one access point to another.

  • Publication number: 20050041614
Abstract: A method for receiving transmitted signals in the presence of CW interference is used in a communication system that determines the presence of a code in a received signal. A detector threshold is compared calculations made in accordance with a sample of a received signal. A first input power value of the received signal is obtained at a first sample time and a second input power value of the received signal is obtained at a second sample time. The first and second power values are compared in order to provide an input sample comparison and the forgoing steps are repeated in order to provide a plurality of input sample comparisons, and the detector threshold is adjusted in accordance with the plurality of sample comparisons. The CW signal can be strongly correlated with a short code used for the acquisition purposes, while avoiding false alarms.

  • Publication number: 20050036570
Abstract: A received channel power indicator (RCPI) value is used as a measure of the received RF power in the selected channel, measured at the antenna connector. This parameter is a measure by the PHY sublayer of the received RF power in the channel measured over the PLCP preamble and over the entire received frame. RCPI is a monotonically increasing, logarithmic function of the received power level defined in dBm.

  • Publication number: 20050002361
Abstract: A preamble for a random access channel (RACH) transmission is provided by selecting one out of sixteen preamble signatures.
