  • Patent number: 5983429
Abstract: An apparatus is provided which supports a patient on an inflatable structure. The inflatable structure preferably has two components: a) lower inflatable layer which is selectively operable to provide basic support for the patient and which includes a plurality of laterally offset zone which may be independently inflatable to control rotation of the patient. Further, a second inflatable layer includes a plurality of zones for establishing optimal patient interface pressures and patient comfort levels, and may also include sufficiently independent inner chambers to facilitate the providing of specific therapies such as alternation of primary pressure contact areas, or percussion or vibration of the patient through inner cell inflation.

  • Patent number: 5425148
Abstract: A bed footboard has a main body with a cavity that is configured to receive a panel and a pocket member behind the panel to store patient records. The panel is pivotally mounted in the cavity to permit access to the pocket member and records held in the pocket. The panel is slidable in the pivotal mounting and has a retaining lip that can be engaged to a retaining flange in the cavity to enable the panel to be retained partially within the cavity and disposed to serve as a writing surface. The panel has a biased retracting mechanism that enables the panel to be released from the pivotal mounting. The main body of the panel has channels in which bolts can be slidably extended above the top surface of the main body. The panel has openings configured to receive the bolts to enable the panel to be mounted above the top surface of the main body and serve as a utility tray.
