Abstract: A process and catalyst for the acetoxylation of propylene, said catalyst consisting essentially of palladium, bismuth, and rubidium on a support.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 24, 1986
Date of Patent: January 6, 1987
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Co.
Inventors: Charles A. Drake, Stephen E. Reiter
  • Patent number: 4587229
Abstract: A process and catalyst for the acetoxylation of propylene, said catalyst consisting essentially of palladium, bismuth, and rubidium on a support.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 22, 1984
Date of Patent: May 6, 1986
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
Inventors: Charles A. Drake, Stephen E. Reiter
  • Patent number: 4564699
Abstract: An isobutyric acid ester is oxidatively dehydrogenated in the vapor phase producing the corresponding methacrylic acid ester by contact with a heterogeneous catalyst, molecular oxygen and an amine. The catalyst may be any of a number of well known oxydehydrogenation catalysts.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 20, 1982
Date of Patent: January 14, 1986
    Assignee: Ashland Oil, Inc.
    Inventor: Stephen E. Reiter
  • Patent number: 4518814
Abstract: A novel ethylene oligomerization catalyst is provided consisting essentially of a nickel compound, a phosphine compound, and an acid. In addition, an improved ethylene oligomerization process is provided which comprises contacting ethylene with the novel catalyst composition present, in an effective solvent, at a temperature from about 0.degree. C. to about 200.degree. C. As a result of the inventive process, high catalyst productivity and good selectivity to desired oligomeric products are obtained.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 24, 1984
Date of Patent: May 21, 1985
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
Inventors: Ronald D. Knudsen, Stephen E. Reiter
  • Patent number: 4485020
Abstract: A thermostable, viscous xanthan polysaccharide solution prepared by the process of heating a xanthan polysaccharide solution in the presence of at least one C.sub.1 to C.sub.10 alkyl or C.sub.3 to C.sub.10 cycloalkyl substituted primary or secondary mono- or diamine having an upper limit of a total of 15 carbon atoms under conditions sufficient to form a thermostable, viscous xanthan polysaccharide solution. The thermostable, viscous xanthan polysaccharide solution may be used as a mobility buffer in a process for the enhanced recovery of oil.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 16, 1983
Date of Patent: November 27, 1984
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
Inventors: Lucas K. Shay, Stephen E. Reiter
