    Abstract: A plastic lid for a pail. The lid has an edge section that extends exterior to the pail, one section of the edge section forming a hinge section. The remainder of the edge section has three sections. Each of the sections extends peripherally around the edge of the lid. One section, intermediate between the other sections is integrally formed with the other sections, and tearable therefrom. The hinge section being integral with one section and has a portion of reduced thickness juxtaposed to the rim of the container. The lid is rotatable about the hinge for opening of the pail after removal of the tearable section. The lid and pail are tamper-evident, and the lid is retained on the pail after opening.

    Abstract: A pail lid having a retractable pouring spout. The pail lid has a neck integrally formed as part of the lid and extending from the face of the lid opposed to a peripheral groove. The neck has external threads adapted to receive a screw cap. A retractable pouring spout located within the opening is movable from a pouring position to a retracted position while being retained within the neck. The spout mates with the neck at the pouring position and the retracted position. An injection molding process for manufacture of the lid is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A container comprising a main body portion having a top rim, at least one side wall and a bottom wall, and having a tamper evident connection with a lid. The tamper evident connection comprising a channel within a skirt projection outwardly from the side wall below the top rim, a gripping portion of the lid for receiving the top rim and thereby securing the lid to the container. The gripping portion having a distal end to be received within the channel, thereby rendering difficult access to the distal end. The skirt having a breakable and removable portion for facilitating access to the distal end of the gripping portion upon breaking the breakable and removable portion.
