  • Publication number: 20080244145
Abstract: A docking system for interfacing with a host computing device and for receiving a plurality of data storage components including a non-tape data storage media and an electrical contact. The docking system includes a primary station and an auxiliary station. The primary station includes an electrical connection device configured to interface with the host computing device and a primary station electrical coupling element. The auxiliary station includes a corresponding electrical coupling element selectively coupled with the primary station electrical coupling element and further includes at least one socket configured to selectively receive one of the plurality of data storage components.

  • Publication number: 20080198487
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to techniques for transferring data files representing a digital motion picture to a motion picture system within a theater in a single step. More specifically, the techniques allow a user to press one button to initiate the transfer, or upload, of a plurality of data files stored on a data tape to a predetermined location within a data storage device within the theater. The single input from the user frees the user from completing the plurality of steps needed to manually select a desired data file from the data tape and find the location to transfer the data file. Instead, the data tape or user system may automatically identify the entire plurality of data files and the predetermined location at which to store the plurality of data files. The techniques facilitate the distribution of motion pictures from motion picture studios to theaters using magnetic tape media.

  • Patent number: 5052872
Abstract: A method for binding a stack of fan folded sheets including manually disposing the stack of sheets with spine edges of the sheets generally aligned in a plane generally at a right angle to the side surfaces of the sheets in the stack; manually positioning a thick layer of pressure sensitive adhesive already adhered to a generally planar portion of a highly flexible backing having low resiliency over the spine edges; and manually pressing the side of the backing against the spine edge of the sheets to cause conformation of the backing and adhesion of the layer of pressure sensitive adhesive to the spine edges of the sheets, which is most easily done by manually pressing the spine edges of the sheets toward an edge of a structure such as a table or desk with the edge disposed transverse of the spine edges of the sheets along the surface of the backing opposite the layer of pressure sensitive adhesive while moving the spine edges longitudinally to bring the majority of the side of the backing opposite the layer

  • Patent number: 5013200
Abstract: A binding system including a method for binding sheets in which a stack of the sheets is shingled to disclose narrow side surface portions along their spine edges, a uniform layer of pressure sensitive adhesive is adhered to those spine edges and narrow side surface portion after which the spine edges are moved into alignment at a right angle to the side surfaces of the sheets to re-form the pressure sensitive adhesive along the spines of the sheets, and a flexible backing is adhered over the re-formed adhesive along the spine edges and at the side surfaces of the sheets to retain the spine edges of the sheets in that alignment. The system also includes a novel cover structure which facilitates the method and includes cover plates, the pressure sensitive adhesive and the backing; and a novel device for holding and positioning the sheets during binding.

  • Patent number: 5011187
Abstract: A binding system including a method for binding connected fan folded sheets in which a stack of the sheets is shingled to disclose narrow side surface portions along their spine edges, a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive on a highly flexible backing is adhered to those spine edges and narrow side surface portion after which the spine edges are moved into alignment at a right angle to the side surfaces of the sheets to cause the backing and layer of pressure sensitive adhesive to pleat around the spines of the sheets. The system also includes a novel cover structure which facilitates the method and includes cover plates, the pressure sensitive adhesive and the backing; and a novel device for holding and positioning the sheets during binding.
