  • Publication number: 20080283352
Abstract: Electromagnetic actuators, components of electromagnetic actuators, clutches that use electromagnetic actuators, and methods associated therewith for improved electromagnetic actuator operation and manufacturing methods. Embodiments of an electromagnetic actuator of the present disclosure includes a configuration of a housing and a flux washer relative a shaft helps to reduce the travel path for magnetic flux generated by an electrical coil contained therein. This more direct flux path, in turn, provides for a shorter loop for the magnetic flux, which helps to generate a greater relative magnetic force (e.g., a stronger clutch actuation force) as compared to other configurations.

  • Publication number: 20080284273
Abstract: Devices and methods are provided for a lead frame, stator, and electric motor. One embodiment for a lead frame includes two or more control tracks for connection to a stator winding. The lead frame also includes a Hall-effect sensor coupled to two or more signal tracks for sensing a magnetic field and for providing electric signals to a control circuit and a capacitor coupled to the two or more signal tracks for dampening the electric signal provided by the Hall-effect sensor. The lead frame can also include a removable support for maintaining a predetermined distance between the two or more control tracks and the two or more signal tracks.

  • Publication number: 20080286136
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include a fan housing having a first part with a first side wall and a first back wall, a second part having a second side wall and a second back wall, where the first back wall and the second back wall meet to define an axle opening and the first and second side walls meet to define a right circular cylinder parallel with the axle opening. The first part and second part of the housing can be mirror images when positioned with the first and second sidewalls and the edge of the first and second back walls facing each other. Embodiments of the fan housing can also include a motor casing that extends from the first and second back walls away from the first and second side walls. The motor casing can contain and house a motor for turning the impeller contained in the housing.

  • Publication number: 20080143203
Abstract: Devices and methods are provided for an improved motor stator. One embodiment for a stator includes a stator section having a first surface and a second surface each surface having a groove extending into the stator section and a slot extending longitudinally between the first and second surfaces. Insulated conductive wires are wound longitudinally around the stator section in the slots to form winding turns contained completely within each groove. A lead frame extends circumferentially along a surface of the stator and the insulated conductive wires couple to the lead frame. A thermoset material is supplied to the stator section to encapsulate the stator section including the lead frame and the insulated conductive wires, and to provide integral coolant flow passages.

  • Patent number: 7100889
Abstract: A miniature solenoid valve including a housing defining an axial passage with a valve seat formed integral with the housing and including a minute flow orifice in fluidic communication with the axial passage. A magnetic actuator is positioned within the axial passage and is adapted for reciprocating movement along an actuation axis. A valve element is engagable with the integrally formed valve seat to substantially prevent flow through the minute flow orifice in response to displacement of the magnetic actuator along the actuation axis. In another embodiment, a connection element is formed integral with the housing and is configured for sealing engagement with a pressurized flow source to supply flow to the flow orifice. In a further embodiment, the housing defines a closed end and an open end, with a pole piece engaged with the valve housing and including a transverse portion covering the open end of the valve housing.
