  • Patent number: 7493199
Abstract: A method of controlling a roll control system includes monitoring the position of a steering mechanism of a vehicle. A rate of change of the position of the steering mechanism is determined. The rate of change is compared to a change threshold value. The lateral acceleration of a vehicle is monitored. The lateral acceleration is compared to an acceleration threshold value. A roll control system having at least one of a front and a rear actuator is controlled based at least in part upon the comparisons of the rate of change of the steering mechanism to the change threshold value and the lateral acceleration to the acceleration threshold value. The front and rear actuators are controlled independently of each other depending upon the state of a vehicle stability index.

  • Publication number: 20090024564
Abstract: A method for accessing a file system that includes creating a document index for an active document, identifying a similarity score for each of a plurality of stored documents to generate a list of similar documents, wherein the similarity score is computed by comparing the document index for the active document with a search index for the plurality of stored documents, and displaying the list of similar documents in a file system interface.

  • Patent number: 7401677
Abstract: A steering system (10) for a vehicle (16) comprises a housing (20) having first and second end portions (32, 34) and an intermediate portion (50). A steering member (66) is supported for axial movement in the housing (20). A piston (100) fixed for movement with the steering member (66) has opposite end faces (104, 106). First and second springs (130, 132) engage the end faces (104, 106) of the piston (100) and bias the piston and thereby the steering member (66) in first and second axial directions toward a straight ahead position. Steering linkage (124, 126) connected with the piston member (100) transmits movement of the piston member (100) to steerable wheels (12, 14) of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20080005081
Abstract: In a distributed enterprise computing system, personal data repositories are created by individual users who generate classifiers that index the information for those repositories. Each generated classifier also specifies a target repository into which a copy of a resource that matches that classifier is placed. Users can submit classifiers that they created to other repositories. Later, when a user adds a resource to his personal repository, it is checked against all classifiers that have been created by the user and submitted to the repository by other users. If the new resource matches any classifier, a copy of the resource is sent to the repository specified in the classifier, where the resource is archived and indexed.

  • Patent number: 6783157
Abstract: An apparatus for attachment to the body (240) of a vehicle (12) which has a front, rear and opposite sides and which has steerable wheels. The apparatus comprises a lower part (22) having structure (40, 48) for fixed attachment at each of the opposite sides of the vehicle. A first steering control arm (150) is pivotally connected to the lower part (22) at one side of the vehicle. A second steering control arm (160) is pivotally connected to the lower part (22) at an opposite side of the vehicle. An upper part (24) is connected with the lower part (22). A rack and pinion steering mechanism (10) includes a rack bar (180) movable axially in opposite directions to effect steering movement of the steerable wheels of the vehicle. The steering mechanism (10) includes a chamber (80) through which the rack bar (180) extends. The chamber is defined by surfaces of the upper and lower parts (22, 24).

  • Patent number: 5887924
Abstract: A cargo hook for releasably carrying a load includes a support frame, a load support carried by the frame, and a latch. The load support has a closed condition for securing the load and an open condition for permitting release of the load. The latch is for releasably latching the load support in the closed condition and includes a toggle linkage having a first end pivotally connected to the load support, a second end pivotally connected to the frame, and an articulation joint between the ends. Further, the latch includes a mechanism for toggling the toggle linkage between first and second toggle positions, and a catch moveable between a latched position for holding the toggle linkage in the first toggle position and an unlatched position for permitting the toggle linkage to toggle between the first and second toggle positions.
