  • Patent number: 6195971
Abstract: A grass collector for receiving clippings discharged from a port at the rear of a mower housing. The collector is secured to a frame member which is pivotally connected to support members joined to the mower so as to be able to swing between a closed, clippings-receiving position adjacent the rear discharge port and an open, displaced position at which clippings can be dumped from the collector. The position of the collector is selectively controlled by the operator of the mower, and a spring arrangement is provided for retaining the collector in the selected position until over-ridden by the operator.

  • Patent number: 5499495
Abstract: Adjustable ventilation apparatus for a lawn mower, adapted to allow adjustment of the airflow rate into the cutting deck to maximize operation of the lawn mower under various operating conditions. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a ring disposed intermediate the engine and cutting deck of a walk behind mower, having a plurality of radial openings formed therethrough. An annular cover is provided encircling the ring, with the cover having a like number of openings formed in the peripheral wall thereof. Rotational movement of the cover relative to the ring moves the openings therein into and out of alignment with the openings in the ring, thereby defining open and closed positions for the vent, respectively. The cover may also be moved to a plurality of positions intermediate fully open and fully closed to provide the appropriate airflow into the cutting deck.

  • Patent number: 5129336
Abstract: An eccentric adjusting apparatus for a tree spade which includes a plurality of blades mounted for upward and downward movement on mounting blocks which travel in longitudinal channels of an associated plurality of upright towers. A pair of eccentric pins are used to mount the blades to the mounting blocks. Pivotal movement of the eccentric pins permits quick and easy adjustment of the blades to assist in maintaining the desired alignment of the blades along their adjoining edges and at a common vertex.
