  • Publication number: 20240138064
Abstract: A method of fabricating a multilayer circuit board is provided which includes forming a layer of a the multilayer circuit board with an internal clearance region having a modified voltage-to-ground clearance of conductive material adjacent to an aperture of the multilayer circuit board. The modified voltage-to-ground clearance of conductive material is based on a configuration of a connector pin to be press-fit connected within the aperture of the multilayer circuit board, and the internal clearance region is enlarged in a direction of greatest normal force outward from the aperture with insertion of the connector pin into the aperture.

  • Patent number: 8151570
Abstract: Embodiments for an apparatus and associated method for providing a cooling fluid to a gas turbine transition duct in order to lower the effective operating temperatures of the transition duct are disclosed. The transition duct has an inner liner and an impingement sleeve positioned radially outward with a passageway formed therebetween. The impingement sleeve has a plurality of openings where a portion of the openings each have a feed tube extending through the opening and into the passageway. The feed tubes are oriented at an angle relative to the impingement sleeve, such that an inlet to the feed tube is directed generally towards an oncoming flow of cooling fluid. The feed tubes direct a portion of the cooling fluid toward the inner liner and into the passageway for cooling of the transition duct.

  • Patent number: 7386980
Abstract: A combustion liner having enhanced heat transfer over at least a portion of the liner is disclosed. The combustion liner comprises, amongst other features, an outer surface wherein at least a region of the outer surface is textured in a substantially uniform pattern such that the surface area exposed to a passing cooling medium is increased, thereby increasing the heat transfer through the combustion liner. Multiple embodiments of textured patterns are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7308793
Abstract: The present invention discloses an apparatus and method for reducing the carbon monoxide emissions emitted by a pilot injector of a gas turbine combustor. Multiple embodiments of a means for establishing a recirculation zone are disclosed whereby a portion of the fuel and air mixture from the pilot injector recirculates and a flame is held, thereby increasing the local reaction temperature at the desired location and lowering carbon monoxide emissions.

  • Patent number: 6986254
Abstract: A method of operating a gas turbine combustion system having reduced emissions and improved flame stability at multiple load conditions is disclosed. The improved combustion system accomplishes this through complete premixing, a plurality of fuel injector locations, combustor geometry, and precise three dimensional staging between fuel injectors. Axial, radial, and circumferential fuel staging is utilized including fuel injection proximate air swirlers. Furthermore, strong recirculation zones are established proximate the introduction of fuel and air premixture from different stages to the combustion zone. Fuel injection staging sequences are disclosed that create the conditions necessary to provide stable combustion and reduced emissions at multiple load conditions.

  • Publication number: 20050205717
Abstract: A method for operating a satellite (10, 34) so that a predetermined amount of propellant is left to perform end-of-life maneuvers is provided. A first pressure differential is established between a first propellant tank (74) and a second propellant tank (76) by pressurizing the first tank (76) with a pressurant. Propellant is transferred from the first tank (74) to the second tank (76). Using precise control during transfer the amount of propellant in the tanks may be determined. The second tank is used for orbit maintenance. The first tank is used for end-of-life maneuvers. Propellant may be transferred between the tanks using a latching process so that a predetermined amount of propellant may be transferred from a non-empty tank to a full tank.
